Study Regarding the Optimal Milling Parameters for Finishing 3D Printed Parts from ABS and PLA Materials

Abstract In this paper we proposed to identify the optimum milling parameter required for finishing processes performed on 3Dprinted parts from ABS and PLA materials. We have identified the optimum milling parameters for a constant spindle speed of 3500 rot/min for face milling and profile contouring operations with different tools diameters. The study was performed on 3D printed specimens from ABS and PLA materials.
Adaptive-gain extended Kalman filter: Extension to the continuous-discrete case

In the present article we propose a nonlinear observer that merges the behaviors 1) of an extended Kalman filter, mainly designed to smooth off noise , and 2) of high-gain observers devoted to handle large perturbations in the state estimation. We specifically aim at continuous-discrete systems. The strategy consists in letting the high-gain self adapt according to the innovation. We define innovation computed over a time window and justify its usage via an important lemma. We prove the general convergence of the resulting observer.
Adaptive Asymptotically Tracking Control for Uncertain Strict-Feedback Nonlinear Systems with Input Quantization

In this paper, we investigate the output tracking control problem for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems in parametric strict feedback form with quantized input. A novel backstepping based adaptive quantized control scheme is proposed. Different from the existing results, the true quantization parameters are allowed to be unknown in the design of adaptive controller. It is shown that with the proposed control scheme, the system output can track the desired trajectory asymptotically and all the closed-loop signals are globally uniformly bounded.
Adaptive Backstepping Control of a 2-DOF Helicopter

This paper proposes an adaptive nonlinear controller for a 2-Degree of Freedom (DOF) helicopter. The proposed controller is designed using backstepping control technique and is used to track the pitch and yaw position references independently. A MIMO nonlinear mathematical model is derived for the 2DOF helicopter based on Euler-Lagrange equations, where the system parameters and the control coefficients are uncertain. Unlike some existing control schemes for the helicopter control, the developed controller does not require the knowledge on the system uncertain parameters. Decentralized Adaptive Control for Interconnected Nonlinear Systems with Input Quantization

Abstract In this paper, a decentralized adaptive control scheme is proposed for a class of uncertain nonlinear interconnected systems with input quantization. A hysteresis uniform quantization is introduced to reduce chattering. In the control design, a smooth function is introduced with backstepping technique to compensate for the effects of interactions. It is shown that the proposed decentralized adaptive controllers can ensure global boundedness of all the signals in the closed-loop interconnected systems and the tracking errors of subsystem converge to a residual, which can be adjusted by choosing suitable design parameters. Abstract Costas loop is a classical phase-locked loop (PLL) based circuit for carrier recovery and signal demodulation. The PLL is an automatic control system that adjusts the phase of a local signal to match the phase of the input reference signal. This tutorial is devoted to the dynamic analysis of the Costas loop. The prognostics objective is to avoid sudden machinery breakdowns and to estimate the remaining useful life after initial degradation. Typically, physical health indicators are derived from available sensor data, and a mathematical model is tuned to fit them. The time it takes for the model to reach a failure threshold is the estimated remaining useful life. The failure threshold may be determined from historical failure data, but that is not always readily available.
