Valutare la qualità energetico-ambientale nell’edilizia
2013
The building sector is one of the most important in terms of wealth and employment, but it also involves significant resource consumption and environmental impacts. In particular, it affects the energy balance and the greenhouse gas emissions in Europe. It is responsible for 50-60% of the natural resource consumption and for 40% of the total energy consumption in Europe, and this percentage will increase without strategies and actions aimed at enhancing the use of renewable energy resources. Therefore, the reduction of resource consumption and the minimization of environmental impacts have become in recent years the main goals in the design and construction of sustainable buildings (eco-des…
Intersoggettività e “prospettiva in seconda persona”: una nuova cornice sulle relazioni educative nei nidi d’infanzia
2017
The article reflects on kindergartens’ specificity, focusing on the intersubjective perspective. By this perspective, the developement and the construction of the Self can’t be separated from the perception of the “other” and it is a process working, since birth, through an “embodied relationship”. According to the infant research and the neurosciences studies, the article analyzes the quality of the relationships between adults and children and explores how it can affect personality development, self-image, and learning processes. Finally, the professional skills necessary for educators in kindergartens are deepened, looking at the needs of the children during their first years.
Bodies That Matter: Miniaturisation and the Origin(s) of ‘Art’
2020
Small things matter, especially in the so-called ‘arts’. From the visual arts to music and literature, ‘miniatures’ are a transcultural and transhistorical phenomenon that involves our aesthetic attitudes but also our everyday life, our emotional, social and cognitive life. Miniaturisation characterises our cognitive life and, of course, the ‘cognitive life of things’ that we produce, manipulate and discard. My paper is articulated into two sections: the first gives a quick overview of the miniatures of Homo sapiens, especially those of the paleolithic age, and a brief survey of the very challenging history of miniature-interpretation in twentieth-century philosophy of culture. In the secon…
Earth Bricks with Halloysite Nanoclay: Research and Experimentation for the Sustainability of Materials
2021
The paper illustrates the experimentation activities on rammed earth and nanotechnologies conducted by the authors. The experimental research was carried out with the aim of improving the performance of rammed earth bricks with clay nanotubes, creating a ‘new material’ with reduced embodied energy and low CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. Specifically, the analysed performances are related to the compressive strength that expand their area of use as a building material.
