To honour the battle of 27 May 1860, in 1910 the Palermo City Government decided to realise a commemorative monument. A position at the centre of a large circular plaza was of have afforded the monument a greater solemnity. The commission for the Monument was awarded to Ernesto Basile. In 1927 the City Government decided to dedicate the monument to the Fallen and asked Basile to complete the monument adding an architectural backdrop. Maria.J.Anon@uv.es Este artículo trata de analizar la tesis normativa que atribuye a los jueces la función de garantía de la estabilidad de los sistemas políticos, examen que se lleva a cabo en dos planos. En primer lugar, realizo una valoración de la contribución de la regla de reconocimiento a la identidad y a la legitimidad de los sistemas jurídicos. Mythological Themes in Artworks of Ernests Brastins and Arvids Brastins

The aim of the study is to analyse artwork of Ernests Brastins (1892-1942) and Arvids Brastins (1893-1984) from the point of view of content and iconology, and the formal structure of work, which helps to reveal the author’s ideological direction. Using the comparative method, the visual text (artwork) is compared to the verbal (folklore) text, in an attempt to find parallels to the way they reflect Latvian mythological conceptions. An appropriate folksongs and beliefs are chosen for the artwork selected for the analysis, which serve as an explanatory material for the subject. Il Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Generali: un nuovo modello edilizio di Ernesto Basile nel piano di riforma positivista della Città di Palermo

L’immobile progettato da Ernesto Basile nel 1912 per conto delle Assicurazioni Generali di Venezia ha avuto un ruolo nevralgico nella storia della produzione edilizia e delle dinamiche urbane di Palermo nel tardo periodo della Belle Èpoque. Eretta su un’area ad isolato la fabbrica appena ultimata si imponeva per consistenza stereometrica e, al tempo stesso, per equilibrio compositivo sul limitrofo pregevole contesto edilizio della nascente via Roma.
