Financial exclusion as a result of limited financial literacy in the context of the financialization process / Wykluczenie finansowe jako skutek ogra…
2015
Microcredit as a tool for combating financial exclusion in Italy: the differences on a regional and local level
2016
This paper proposes a mapping of microcredit (social and productive) in the period from 2005 to 2013 in three main Italian regions. Later we offer a description of the micro-credit initiatives promoted by cooperative credit banks trying to take advantage of any differences in the initiatives promoted by other types of operators in terms of default rates of loans. The differences will be commented on the basis of the distinctive features of this category of these relationship banks in order to identify a possible way of development of microcredit in Italy
CTR: A calculus of timed refinement
1995
This paper presents CTR — a process algebraic framework for loose specification of time quantity sensitive operational behaviour of reactive systems. CTR terms are provided both with operational and specification semantics (via the notion of specification refinement). Besides the intuitive justification of appropriateness of the refinement notion, a preservation theorem is proved for a timed variant of Hennessy-Milner logic. A comparison of CTR with the related formalism of Timed Modal Specifications, and with the timed process calculi TCCS due to Wang is given. Some pragmatics of the application of CTR is sketched on a critical resource access example.
Prosocial and Aggressive Behavior Occurrence in Young Athletes: Field Research Results in Six European Countries
2020
Aggression and violence among youth are researched as social phenomena in sport. This paper was designed to determine the occurrence of these behaviors as well as prosocial behaviors among young athletes. The current paper is a research report aiming to detect the frequency of aggressive behavior, social exclusion, prosocial behavior and cohesion in the youth environment, the frequency of personal experience of peer violence or social exclusion, and to evaluate cross-national differences in terms of occurrence of these phenomena. The field research was conducted in six European countries (Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Lithuania, and Serbia) on a sample of 482 children aged…
Urban Blight and Redevelopment: An Urban Participation Path
2018
This paper pays particular attention to one of the many participatory models present in the landscape of urban and territorial planning. Specifically, the ACTION PLANNING model was chosen; a model used in Anglo-Saxon countries to identify the problems and needs of the inhabitants of a given territory, through the involvement of interested parties or stakeholders. The model is applied in Sicily, to Villaseta, a small rural settlement, located southwest of the city of Agrigento, which consists primarily of affordable and social housing. It is a suburb without identity, left to itself, where – despite the valuable cultural, historic, scenic, and most importantly human resources – one notes the…
Association of poverty and social exclusion with body mass index among Special Olympics athletes in Europe.
2016
Objectives To examine the association of a risk of poverty and social exclusion (AROPE), age, and gender with the body mass index (BMI) status of European Special Olympics athletes. Methods BMI records were available for 1905 children and youth and 5517 adults from the Special Olympics International (SOI) Health Promotion database. AROPE was extracted from EU Eurostat statistics. Logistic regression analyses were used to predict BMI status. Results For children/youth and adults, respectively, 9.4 and 6.3% were underweight and 25.3 and 44.6% were overweight/obese. Being underweight was significantly associated with higher AROPE rates. Being female and lower AROPE rates were significantly ass…
Subject, discourse and urban life: a contrastive study of discourses on social exclusion in Brazil and in Spain
2009
Elementary presentation of self‐consistent intermediate Hamiltonians and proposal of two totally dressed singles and doubles configuration interactio…
1994
Intermediate Hamiltonians are effective Hamiltonians which are defined on an N‐dimensional model space but which only provide n<N exact eigenvalues and the projections of the corresponding eigenvectors onto the model space. For a single root research, the intermediate Hamiltonian may be obtained from the restriction of the Hamiltonian to the model space by an appropriate, uniquely defined dressing of the diagonal energies or of the first column. Approximate self‐consistent dressings may be proposed. The simplest perturbative form gives the same result as the original 2nd order intermediate Hamiltonian or the ‘‘shifted Bk’’ technique but it is of easier implementation. Self‐consistent inclus…
Preventing Violence and Social Exclusion through Sport and Physical Activity: The SAVE Project
2018
Sport Against Violence and Exclusion (SAVE), a project cofounded by the Erasmus + Program of the European Union, seeks to prevent violent and socially exclusive behaviors through physical activity. The current editorial shows a range of possible interpretations of these two phenomena from both a psychological and sociological point of view, offering helpful methods to coaches who train children (ages 6 to 12)in grass-root sport clubs. Following a thorough analysis, partners from seven EU countries (Lithuania, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Austria, and Spain) will be able to identify skills and techniques for coaches to ensure inclusive training methods as well as to provid…
Critical Studies on Men in Ten European Countries: (1) The State of Academic Research
2002
This article is on the work of the European Research Network on Men in Europe project, “The Social Problem and Societal Problematization of Men and Masculinities” (2000-2003), funded by the European Commission. The Network comprises women and men researchers with a range of disciplinary backgrounds from Estonia, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom. The Network's initial focus is on men's relations to home and work, social exclusion, violence, and health. Some of the findings on the Network's fourth phase of work, namely the review of newspaper and media representations of men's practices in the ten countries, are presented…
