Political risk and export promotion: evidence from Germany

Political risk represents an important hidden transaction cost that reduces international trade. This paper investigates the claim that German public export credit guarantees (Hermes guarantees) mitigate this friction to trade flows and hence promote exports. We employ an empirical trade gravity model, where we explicitly control for political risk in the importing country in order to evaluate the effect of export guarantees. The idea behind export promotion through public export credit agencies (ECAs) is that the private market is unable to provide adequate insurance for all risks associated with exports. Este artículo estudia el efecto de los subsidios a la exportación sobre las decisiones de organización interna de la empresa, concretamente sobre la decisión de delegar ventas en un distribuidor independiente. El modelo abunda en la interrelación existente entre la política comercial y la política de competencia. En el contexto de un duopolio à la Brander y Spencer (1985), se demuestra que los subsidios a la exportación armonizan los intereses privados y sociales. Human inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) is regulated on the expressional level mostly by post-transcriptional mechanisms modulating the mRNA stability. Another important step in the control of eukaryotic gene expression is the nucleocytoplasmic mRNA transport. Most cellular mRNAs are exported via the TAP/Nxt complex of proteins. However, some mRNAs are transported by a different mechanism involving the nuclear export receptor CRM1. Treatment of DLD-1 cells with the CRM1 inhibitor leptomycin B (LMB) or anti-CRM1 siRNAs reduced cytokine-induced iNOS expression. Resealed nuclear envelope (NE) vesicles from rat liver containing entrapped exogenous RNA were used to study the effect of adenosine+uridine binding factor (AUBF), present in cytosolic cell extracts, on ATP-dependent transport of A+U-rich RNA (AU+RNA) and A+U-free RNA (AU-RNA) across the NE. This factor specifically binds to A+U-rich sequences present in the 3' untranslated regions of lymphokine and cytokine mRNAs, containing overlapping AUUUA boxes (granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor, interleukin-3). Among these is BIM (Building Information Modeling): originally built up for construction projects, it has been already experimented in the CH domain, but not enough in the archaeological field.
