Analyzing online search patterns of music festival tourists

2020

Music festivals, as cultural events that induce tourism flows, intermediate both the cultural and travel experience. The present study analyzes online search behavior of potential attenders to a music festival. We hypothesize that the search process reveals latent patterns of behavior of cultural tourists planning to attend music festivals. To this end, information from Google Trends on queries related to three popular music festivals is used to build a network of search topics. Based on it, alternative exponential random graph model specifications are estimated. Findings support the general result of mediated information flows: music festivals induce planning and traveling queries. Howeve…

Dożynki w Polsce. Od obrzędu do widowiska

2017

Today the traditional beliefs, customs and rites relating to the harvest time are very limited as their contemporary functions and dimension have changed. The authoress is interested in the transformation process of a harvest festival that is typical of the old rural communities. The harvest festival still crowns the labours of farming and is a form of solemn thanksgiving for harvested crops but today's celebration is not accompanied with any magical practices that would bring a good harvest next year. Ritual songs are becoming obsolete and the harvesting women, if any, no longer need any orations addressed to a landlord. The customs of baking bread and making crown-shaped wreaths have surv…

In Italy, in recent decades, there has been a significant increase in cultural events that respond to social qu…

Hacer películas chilenas desde Francia: Marcela Said y Jairo Boisier

2019

Submitting projects to international funds and the subsequent festival tour are obligatory steps for most films that, outside purely commercial circuits, seek distribution and cultural legitimacy beyond their national borders. In this globalized context, European support funds are particularly important. Following the path opened by pioneering scholars (De Valck, Elsaesser, Falicov, Shaw), this article aims to study the transnational networks in which Latin American cinema is currently involved. We address this issue by focussing on the specific case of two Chilean directors based in France: Marcela Said and Jairo Boisier. By doing so, we intend to show how European and particularly French …

Musiikkifestivaalit oppivina organisaatioina : tutkimuskohteina Savonlinnan Oopperajuhlat ja Haapavesi Folk Music Festival

2012

Tutkim…

"Vedet seisahtuu, liikenteet pysähtyy" : kokemuksia uuden julkisen taiteen kohtaamisesta ANTI - Contemporary Art Festivalilla

2013

Tämä pro gradu -tutkielma keskittyy yleisön kokemuksiin uudesta julkisesta taiteesta ANTI – Contemporary Art Festivalin yhteydessä. Tutkielman laadullinen aineisto koostuu ryhmähaastattelusta, jonka analyysimenetelmänä käytin sisällönanalyysiä. Ryhmähaastattelu keskittyi haastateltavien kokemukseen Avustettuja kadunylityksiä Kuopiossa -teoksesta (2011) sekä siihen osallistumisesta. Toinen tutkimuskysymys koski uuden julkisen taiteen vaikutusta kaupunkitilassa tapahtuvaan vuorovaikutukseen. Uuden julkisen taiteen mahdollistamista osallistumisen ja vuorovaikutuksen tilanteista pyrin luomaan laajempaa käsitystä lisäksi kolmen teosanalyysin avulla. Aineistoni perusteella haastateltavien kokemus…

Questua, sacrificio e banchetto rituale nelle feste campestri della Sardegna

2019

The begging of money, food and livestock, the sacrifice of the latter a…
