This article proposes an ethical reinterpretation of Dardot and Laval's analyses of the concept of the "commune", published in 2014. The circulation of ethical arguments and the activation of a line of thought related to public ethics can indeed contribute to finding an answer to some objections moved to the proposal of the commune. This is the intention of my contribution, which focuses in particular on the question of the subjectivity implied, or rather evoked by the theoretical-political proposal of the French thinkers.

The essay examines the hermeneutical criticism of Hegelian recognition, showing that this is based on the thesis of a reductive vision of the meaning of the negative in the Hegelian dialectic. According to hermeneutical thinking, despite his criticism of the abstract universal and his understanding of negation as relationship, Hegel doesn’t get definitely rid of the merely ‘logical’ sense of negation in terms of exclusion or elimination. Thus he conceives recognition as a definitive overcoming of diversity, and therefore of otherness. In particular the book is divided into three parts, each one addressing of the following topics: a) Facing complexity in the right way: mathematics and complexity; b) Complexity and theory of language; c) From empirical observation to formal models: investigations of specifici linguistic phenomena, like enunciation, deixis, or the meaning of the metaphorical phrases.
La comprensione dell’altro tra spiegazioni mentalistiche e pratiche situate

This essay presents current criticisms against a “mentalistic” interpretation of the practice of understanding others as providing some reasons for a redefinition of the structure of the problem rather than for its deconstruction. More specifically, I hypothesize that the problem of reconciling the practical status of our understanding with the reflective stance needed to understand and assess apparently “out of context” behavior is a legitimate one, and that the analysis of the normative structure of cooperative interaction provided by John Searle and Paul Grice can provide us with the tools to deal with this problem.
