Questo scritto ha un carattere esclusivamente programmatico. È dedicato alla presentazione delle linee essenziali di un programma di ricerca nel quale siamo impegnati già da un po’ di tempo, e che intendiamo sviluppare nel prossimo futuro. Contro il paternalismo giuridico

Sommario In questo articolo, si argomenterà che il paternalismo giuridico non è una concezione etico-politica condivisibile. In base a tale concezione, infatti, lo Stato può usare la forza, contro la volontà di un individuo adulto, anche qualora le sue scelte siano razionali e libere da coazione altrui, al fine di tutelare (ciò che si pretende sia) il suo bene. In particolare, si argomenterà che quello dell’autonomia individuale sia un argomento, in favore dell’antipaternalismo, più forte e condivisibile dei due principali argomenti in favore del paternalismo, quello utilitarista/organicista e quello perfezionista. Conditional Random Quantities and Compounds of Conditionals

In this paper we consider finite conditional random quantities and conditional previsions assessments in the setting of coherence. We use a suitable representation for conditional random quantities; in particular the indicator of a conditional event $E|H$ is looked at as a three-valued quantity with values 1, or 0, or $p$, where $p$ is the probability of $E|H$. We introduce a notion of iterated conditional random quantity of the form $(X|H)|K$ defined as a suitable conditional random quantity, which coincides with $X|HK$ when $H \subseteq K$. Transitive Reasoning with Imprecise Probabilities

We study probabilistically informative (weak) versions of transitivity by using suitable definitions of defaults and negated defaults in the setting of coherence and imprecise probabilities. We represent $\text{ p-consistent }$ sequences of defaults and/or negated defaults by g-coherent imprecise probability assessments on the respective sequences of conditional events. Finally, we present the coherent probability propagation rules for Weak Transitivity and the validity of selected inference patterns by proving p-entailment of the associated knowledge bases.

In this paper, I will examine some aspects of a research program called “Distributed Cognition”.
