Paradoksi un maldīgi spriedumi statistikā

Šajā darbā tiek aprakstīti vairāki paradoksi un maldīgie spriedumi statistikā, kurus ir būtiski izprast, lai izdarītu korektus secinājumus par datiem dažādās zinātnēs, piemēram, epidemoloģijā, tiesību zinātnē, sociālajās zinātnēs. Kaut arī liela daļa no šiem fenomeniem tika aplūkoti jau 20. gadsimtā, ar paradoksiem saistītie rezultāti vēl joprojām var būt intuitīvi nesaprotami, kaut arī no statistikas viedokļa tie ir korekti. Savukārt, maldīgie spriedumi, kuri var likties loģiski, bet noved pie nepareiza rezultāta, joprojām ir sastopami rakstos. Darbā fenomeni tiek aprakstīti un doti piemēri.

A comparison between the single ring pressure infiltrometer and simplified falling head techniques

Testing the relative performances of the single ring pressure infiltrometer (PI) and simplified falling head (SFH) techniques to determine the field saturated soil hydraulic conductivity, Kfs, at the near point scale may help to better establish the usability of these techniques for interpreting and simulating hydrological processes. A sampling of 10 Sicilian sites showed that the measured Kfs was generally higher with the SFH technique than the PI one, with statistically significant differences by a factor varying from 3 to 192, depending on the site. In recent years, rock fall phenomena in Italy have received considerable attention for risk mitigation through in situ observations and experimental data. This paper reports the study conducted at Camaldoli Hill, in the urban area of Naples, and at Monte Pellegrino, Palermo, Italy. The rocks involved are volcanic Neapolitan yellow tuff (NYT) in the former area and dolomitic limestone in the latter. Background. This cross-sectional study investigated the associations between balance confidence, functional balance, and physical disability among older people after hip fracture. Material and methods. The study utilizes baseline data of two randomized controlled trials (ISRCTN34271567 and ISRCTN53680197). The participants were 159 community-dwelling over 60-year-old people.
