Increasing the Use of Reclaimed Asphalt in Italy towards a Circular Economy: A Top-Down Approach

This contribution concerns recommendations which could be made to Italian regulatory bodies to improve their use of reclaimed asphalt (RA) in the road engineering sector. It is essential for the use of RA to be established as a standard practice since it has been proven that it can serve as an end-of-waste product that complies with the principles of a circular economy within both an open- and a closed-loop approach [1,2]. The role of traffic calming schemes in urban network management is mainly to minimize undesirable effect of traffic in residential areas; in this context accident reduction can be a realistic objective. In order to evaluate for the vineyard, the additional risk of freezing, which could be generated by a railway embankment of the High Speed Line (TGV «Paris-Strasbourg») a canvas cover of the future embankment (length 480 m, height 3 m maxi) was drawn up in the bottom of a wineyard slope. Measurements of Actinothermal Index (AI) Temperatures, at the height of the bud (at 50 cm of the surface) and measurements of of cold air windslopes, were carried out on a microclimatic scale.
