We propose that the Anthropocene be defined as the last c. 2000 years of the late Holocene and characterized on the basis of anthropogenic soils. This contrasts with the original definition of the Anthropocene as the last c. 250 years (since the Industrial Revolution) and more recent proposals that the Anthropocene began some 5000 to 8000 years ago in the early to mid Holocene (the early-Anthropocene hypothesis). An electronic baropodometer was used to study a case of lower limb dysmetria caused by an accident with delayed functional recovery of gait. Abstract Appropriate regulation of IL-12 expression is critical for cell-mediated immune responses. In the present study, we have analyzed the regulation of IL-12 p40 promoter activity in primary human monocytes in vivo. Accordingly, we analyzed the p40 promoter by in vivo footprinting in resting and activated primary human blood CD14+ monocytes. Interestingly, footprints at binding sites for trans-activating proteins such as C/EBP, NF-κB, and ETS were only found upon stimulation with LPS and IFN-γ.
