Gli Autori nell’ambito della collaborazione tra il Dipartimento di Rappresentazione dell’Università degli Studi di Palermo ed il laboratorio Agenti Fisici di Palermo dell’Arpa Sicilia, hanno completato la prima mappatura acustica del centro storico di Palermo. Il D.Lgs. 19 agosto 2005 n. 194 prevede, a cura delle Regioni e delle Province Autonome, l’elaborazione delle mappe acustiche strategiche degli agglomerati urbani la cui popolazione complessiva sia superiore a 100.000 abitanti e dalle stesse individuati con legge. In this paper the latest developments of the ALS (Linguistic Atlas of Sicily) project are presented. The ALS project has the purpose to define methodologies and tools to allow researches in the socio-linguistic field. Different types of variables (both quantitative and qualitative) are involved. The whole framework is based on the definition of ontology-based applications for the creation, retrieval, manipulation and browsing of related data. Extracting Touristic Information from Online Image Collections

In this paper, we present a Geographical Information Retrieval system, which aims to automatically extract and analyze touristic information from photos of online image collections (in our case of study Flickr). Our system collect all the photos, and the related information, that are associated to a specific city. We then use Google Maps service to geolocate the retrieved photos, and finally we analyze geo-referenced data to obtain our goals: 1) determining and locating the most interesting places of the city, i.e. the most visited locations, and 2) reconstructing touristic routes of the users visiting the city. The ALS Project has the purpose to discovery new trends and variables to track the linguistic evolution over time and space in Sicily. The present paper would like to show a research project still in progress, presenting the first preliminary archaeological data. The aim of the Madonie project is to analyse mobility strategies and the use of a mountain territory by prehistoric and historic age population, relating geomorphological features, raw material sources and landscape to settlements.
