Il motivo della “conversione” nel «Gallicanus» di Rosvita di Gandersheim

2017

This paper focuses on the subject of conversion in Hrotsvitha of Gandersheim’s dramatic plays (or «dramatic dialogues») and, chiefly, in the first of them, the Gallicanus. The play is divided in two parts and is entirely founded on hagiograhical sources, regarding some episodes about the conversion of Gallican, emperor Constantine’s commander-in-chief (BHL 3236: Conversio Gallicani principis militiae), and the martyrdom of primicerii John and Paul (BHL 3242: Passio martyrum Iohannis et Pauli). Through a strict analysis of Hrotsvitha’s play’s matter, can be highlighted the different typologies of the conversion’s theme, which involves a spiritual renovation, and the treatment of dramatic plo…

2008

Fournier’s disease in an acute pathologic process of cellulitis and necrotising fascitis involving the male genitals with a mortalità of 30-50 %. The main causes are periurethral and perirectal infections, immunodepressive syndromes, diabetes mellitus and traumas. Mixed types of infections involve aerobic and anaerobic germs, the latter being responsible for necrosis of the subcutaneous tissue. Therapy is synergic and multi-disciplinary, antibiotic with radical and reconstructive surgery. The Authors report a case of Fournier’s gangrene. The discuss about various type of necroting diseases; the different etiological agents. Spreading ways of infectionthrough extermal genitalia, anatomical st…

ISOLATED PYODERMA GANGRENOSUM AND ADALIMUMAB:CASE REPORT IN PAEDIATRIC AGE

2018

Introduction: Pyoderma Gangrenosum (PG) is a sterile neutrophilic disorder, rarely described in children and adolescents, and frequently it is known as secondary to other chronic inflammatory diseases. However, epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic data on paediatric PG are numerically limited and no randomized controlled trials have been published. Associated diseases in paediatric cases are inflammatory bowel diseases, vasculitis, immune deficiencies, PAPA Syndrome. The treatment with systemic steroids and cyclosporine is well documented in the literature as the first-line treatment. In nonresponders, other treatment lines are indicated, as: corticosteroids and mycophenolate mofetil, …

Spider bite mimicking pyoderma gangrenosum in sJIA: a case report

2020

Introduction: Several paediatric patients manifest conditions commonly misdiagnosed as spider bites, which however, can include other arthropods bites; bacterial, viral, and mycotic infections; vasculitis; dermatological diseases; miscellaneous conditions as drug reactions, chemical injuries. Objectives: In Italy, spiders which are likely to be associated with severe toxin mediated tissue damage are uncommon, especially in urban zones. However, a minor trauma may be a precipitating factor for pyoderma gangrenosum particularly over the legs, in association with inflammatory bowel disease, haematologic diseases and Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA).

Comparison between SiC and GaN switching devices in fast-recharging systems for electric vehicles

2023

Recently, the improvement of the semiconductor devices to achieve higher efficiency and higher power density has risen to interest. Si carbide and gallium nitride offer faster switching frequency and lower losses; however, the knowledge of the behaviour of these devices is not mature. In this paper, a system for fast charging of batteries for electric vehicles based on an isolated DC-DC converter equipped with both SiC and GaN devices is presented and an interesting experimental comparison among these two technologies will be given in terms of dynamic performances, electromagnetic compatibility, stability, efficiency, and so on.

GaN and SiC Device Characterization by a Dedicated Embedded Measurement System

2023

This work proposes a comparison among GaN and SiC device main parameters measured with a dedicated and low-cost embedded system, employing an STM32 microcontroller designed to the purpose. The system has the advantage to avoid the use of expensive laboratory measurement equipment to test the devices, allowing to obtain their behavior in operating conditions. The following KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) are measured and critically compared: threshold voltage, on-resistance and input capacitance. All the measurements are carried out in a short time interval and on a wide range of switching frequencies, ranging from 10 kHz to 1 MHz. This investigation is focused on the deviation of the figu…

Fiat lux: the light became therapy. An overview on the Bright Light Therapy in Alzheimer’s Disease sleep disorders

2020

Background: A system of photosensitive retinal ganglion cells provides ‘non-visual’ information on the circadian sequences of light to the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), which, as the ‘master clock’, synchronizes the chronobiological mechanisms of all the biological clocks. Damage to SCN structure alters circadian behavioral and hormonal rhythms and interferes with a regular sleep-wake pattern. Several studies have shown that, in aging and in Alzheimer’s disease (AD), circadian rhythms change their synchronization with the environment and behavior loses sync with light. Objective: The current overview aims to examine research studies showing the effect of bright light therapy (BLT) on sleep…

Stimulant-induced adaptations in neostriatal matrix and striosome systems: Transiting from instrumental responding to habitual behavior in drug addic…

2005

Abstract Converging evidence indicates that repeated exposure to motor stimulants such as cocaine and amphetamine produces marked alterations in network responsiveness of striatal neurons to subsequent challenge with the same stimulant drug. Such alterations, which correlate with persistent patterns of repetitive behavior, associate with distinct compartmental changes in the neostriatum. Striatal matrix system neurons undergo “silencing” following repeated drug challenges, allowing striosome system neurons to exhibit preferential activation. Matrix neurons are innervated by sensory and motor areas of neocortex and are activated in the course of on-going, adaptive behavior. Inactivation of m…
