Teoria delle algebre e geometria nell'ottocento
2012
A short survey on Lie theory and Finsler geometry
2017
The aim of this chapter is to provide readers with a common thread to the many topics dealt with in this book, which is intermediate and which aims at postgraduate students and young researchers, wishing to intrigue those who are not experts in some of the topics. We also hope that this book will contribute in encouraging new collaborations among disciplines which have stemmed from related problems. In this context, we take the opportunity to recommend the book by Hawkins [18]. A basic bibliography is outlined between the lines.
On the 2-(25, 5, λ) design of zero-sum 5-sets in the Galois field GF(25)
2017
In this paper we consider the incidence structure ${\mathcal{D}}=({\mathcal{F}},{\mathcal{B}}_5^{0}),$ where ${\mathcal{F}}$ is the Galois field with $25$ elements, and ${\mathcal{B}}_5^{0}$ is the family of all $5$-subsets of $\mathcal F$ whose elements sum up to zero. It is known that ${\mathcal{D}}$ is a $2$-$(25,5,71)$ design. Here we provide two alternative, direct proofs of this result and, moreover, we prove that ${\mathcal{D}}$ is not a $3$-design. Furthermore, if ${\mathcal{B}}_5^{x}$ denotes the family of all $5$-subsets of $\mathcal F$ whose elements sum up to a given element $x \in \mathcal F,$ we also provide an alternative, direct proof that $({\mathcal{F}},{\mathcal{B}}_5^{x}…
Lie Groups, Differential Equations, and Geometry. Advances and Surveys
2017
This book collects a series of contributions addressing the various contexts in which the theory of Lie groups is applied. A preliminary chapter serves the reader both as a basic reference source and as an ongoing thread that runs through the subsequent chapters. From representation theory and Gerstenhaber algebras to control theory, from differential equations to Finsler geometry and Lepage manifolds, the book introduces young researchers in Mathematics to a wealth of different topics, encouraging a multidisciplinary approach to research. As such, it is suitable for students in doctoral courses, and will also benefit researchers who want to expand their field of interest.
FINVALI 2005 - Aree scientifiche: percorsi e risultati
2009
Si presenta l'attività di ricerca del PROGETTO FINALIZZATO “FINVALI 2005”: obiettivi cognitivi, saperi minimi e linguaggi nelle prove nazionali di fine ciclo relativamente all'area matematica e all’area delle scienze sperimentali.
Canetti
2012
A criterion for extending morphisms from open subsets of smooth fibrations of algebraic varieties
2021
Abstract Given a smooth morphism Y → S and a proper morphism P → S of algebraic varieties we give a sufficient condition for extending an S-morphism U → P , where U is an open subset of Y, to an S-morphism Y → P , analogous to Zariski's main theorem.
On the geometry of S2
2009
We investigate topological properties of the moduli space of spin structures over genus two curves. In particular, we provide a combinatorial description of this space and give a presentation of the (rational) cohomology ring via generators and relations.
