A Dido problem for domains in ?2 with a given inradius
1990
We find which are the simply connected domains in ℝ2 satisfying the Dido condition for a straight shoreline, with a given area A and a fixed inradius ϱ, which minimize the length of the free boundary. There are three different cases according to the values of A and ϱ.
The contributions of Hilbert and Dehn to non-Archimedean geometries and their impact on the Italian school
2007
In this paper we investigate the contribution of Dehn to the development of non- Archimedean geometries. We will see that it is possible to construct some models of non- Archimedean geometries to prove the independence of the continuity axiom and we will study the interrelations between Archimede’s axiom and Legendre‘s theorems. Some of these interrelations were studied also by Bonola who was one of the very few italian scholars to really appreciate Dehn’s work. We will see that, if Archimede’s axiom does not hold, the hypothesis on the existence and the number of parallel lines through a point is not related to the hypothesis on the sum of the inner angles a triangle. Hilbert himself retur…
Some models of geometries after Hilbert’s Grundlagen
2010
Sono descritti alcuni dei principali modelli di geometrie non desarguesiane e non archimedee Abstract: We investigate the contribution of Max Dehn to the development of non-Archimedean geometries and the contribution of his student Ruth Moufang to the development of non-Desarguesian geometries.
Facial geometry and speech analysis for depression detection.
2017
Depression is one of the most prevalent mental disorders, burdening many people world-wide. A system with the potential of serving as a decision support system is proposed, based on novel features extracted from facial expression geometry and speech, by interpreting non-verbal manifestations of depression. The proposed system has been tested both in gender independent and gender based modes, and with different fusion methods. The algorithms were evaluated for several combinations of parameters and classification schemes, on the dataset provided by the Audio/Visual Emotion Challenge of 2013 and 2014. The proposed framework achieved a precision of 94.8% for detecting persons achieving high sc…
Boundary behavior of quasi-regular maps and the isodiametric profile
2001
We study obstructions for a quasi-regular mapping f : M → N f:M\rightarrow N of finite degree between Riemannian manifolds to blow up on or collapse on a non-trivial part of the boundary of M M .
Denoising 3D Models with Attributes using Soft Thresholding
2004
International audience; Recent advances in scanning and acquisition technologies allow the construction of complex models from real world scenes. However, the data of those models are generally corrupted by measurement errors. This paper describes an efficient single pass algorithm for denoising irregular meshes of scanned 3D model surfaces. In this algorithm, the frequency content of the model is assessed by a multiresolution analysis that requires only 1-ring neighbourhood without any particular parameterization of the model faces. Denoising is achieved by applying the soft thresholding method to the detail coefficients given by the multiresolution analysis. Our method is suitable for irr…
Support of removable partial dentures in situations with a unilaterally missing canine and a curved edentulous ridge.
1997
The load and movement of abutments and removable partial dentures were examined in situations with a unilaterally missing canine and a curved edentulous ridge. These measurements were performed on a model adapted to intraoral conditions. In this simulation, removable partial dentures supported by incisors may result in failure. Spring rest support results in significantly reduced articulation vertically and horizontally when compared with solid rest support and avoids periodontal overloading.
Finite Element Method and Von Mises Investigation on Bone Response to Dynamic Stress with a Novel Conical Dental Implant Connection
2020
The bioengineering and medical and biomedical fields are ever closer, and they manage to obtain surprising results for the development of new devices. The field of simulations and studies in silica has undergone considerable development in recent years, favoring the advancement of medicine. In this manuscript, a study was carried out to evaluate the force distribution on the implant components (In-Kone® Universal) and on the peri-implant tissues subjected to loading. With the finite element analysis and the Von Mises method, it was possible to evaluate this distribution of forces both at 0 degrees (occlusal force) and at 30 degrees; the applied force was 800 N. The obtained results on this …
2D and 3D mixed MII/CuIImetal–organic frameworks (M = Ca and Sr) withN,N′-2,6-pyridinebis(oxamate) and oxalate: preparation and magneto-structural st…
2018
Three heterobimetallic complexes of formula [Ca2Cu3(mpyba)2(2-apyma)(H2O)7]·8.3H2O (1), [Sr2Cu3(mpyba)2(2-apyma)(H2O)8]·11.6H2O (2) and [Sr4.5Cu4(mpyba)4(ox)(H2O)20]·8.5H2O (3) [H4mpyba = N,N'-2,6-pyridinebis(oxamic acid), 2-apyma = 2-(6-aminopyridinyl)oxamate and ox = oxalate] have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Complexes 1 and 2 are isostructural compounds, with tricopper(ii) units having mpyba and its hydrolytic product (2-apyma) as ligands. They are interlinked through strontium(ii) (1) and calcium(ii) (2) ions to afford neutral two-dimensional networks. Two of the copper(ii) ions are five-coordinate in distorted square pyramidal (Cu3) and trigonal bipyramidal (Cu1) su…
One-dimensional oxalato-bridged heterobimetallic coordination polymers by using [the [Cr(pyim)(C2O4)2]− complex as metalloligand [pyim = 2-(2′-pyridy…
2019
Abstract Four new coordination polymers based on the use of the [Cr(pyim)(C2O4)2]− species as a metalloligand, namely [LiCr(pyim)(C2O4)2(MeOH)]n (1), {[CaCr2(pyim)2(C2O4)4]·2MeOH}n (2), {[SrCr2(pyim)2(C2O4)4(H2O)]·0.45MeOH·4.55H2O}n (3) and {[CdCr2(pyim)2(C2O4)4]·MeOH}n (4) [pyim = 2-(2′-pyridyl)imidazole] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra and X-ray diffraction on single crystals. Complex 1 is a neutral heterobimetallic chain where the tris(chelated) chromium(III) unit acts as a bis-bidentate ligand towards {Li(MeOH)}+ fragments through its two oxalate ligands, each lithium ion being five-coordinate in a intermediate surrounding between square pyramid…
