Exposition continue aux xéno-hormones à faibles doses chez le rat : effets multi-générationnels de mélanges sur les préférences gustatives, le compor…

2012

During the last decade, the issue of health-related endocrine disruptors (ED) has been extended to the toxicity of mixtures. The objective of this study was to define the effects of lifelong exposure to ED mixtures, at low doses defined as "non-harmful" by the authorities. In this aim, the effects of mixtures combining genistein, vinclozolin and bisphenol A, have been investigated in the rat by using an integrative and multi-generational experimental approach which takes into account maternal behavior, feeding behavior and development. Our results show that these mixtures could: a) reduce maternal behavior, b) change taste preferences (sweet, salty), c) affect the development from the in ut…

Etude de la stabilité de films industriels de PLA et de leur modification de surface pour des applications en tant qu'emballage alimentaire biodégrad…

2017

Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is a biodegradable and renewable polyester, which is considered as the most promising eco-friendly substitute of conventional plastics. It is mainly used for food packaging applications, but some drawbacks still reduce its applications. On the one hand, its low barrier performance to gases (e.g. O2 and CO2) limits its use for applications requiring low gas transfer, such as modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) or for carbonate beverage packaging. On the other hand, its natural water sensitivity, which contributes to its biodegradation, limits its use for high moisture foods with long shelf life.Other biopolymers such as wheat gluten (WG) can be considered as interesti…

Astrocytes and hypothalamic glucose sensing: metabolic role and involvement of astroglial connexins

2012

The hypothalamus plays a pivotal role in the nervous control of glucose homeostasis. This area contains gluco-sensitive neurons. Some of them detect increases in glucose levels and regulate glucose homeostasis by stimulating insulin secretion or inhibiting food intake. It is widely accepted that astrocytes are metabolically coupled to neurons. Lactate, resulting from the metabolism of glucose by astrocytes, is transported via the monocarboxylate transporters (MCTs). In addition, gap junctions (GJ), that form networks within astrocytes, are essential to transfer glucose from the bloodstream to the active neurons. These astroglial GJ mainly consist of connexins 43 and 30 (Cxs). The aims of my …

Impact du système endocannabinoïdien sur la physiologie de l'obésité : effets de l'antagonisme des récepteurs CB1 sur le métabolisme glucido-lipidiqu…

2010

The endocannabinoïd system (ECS) is involved in many biological functions such as regulation of energy metabolism. Recently, several studies have shown an association between obesity and ECS overactivity. In addition, specific CB1R antagonists such as Rimonabant (SR141716) improved metabolic parameters in obese patients essentially through inactivation of central CB1R. However, peripheral CB1R inactivation could also contribute to the improvement of these parameters and it is this notion that we have studied. To this purpose, we tested the effects of SR141716 on obese mice in order to establish relationships between the ECS activity and lipid metabolism by looking more specifically to its r…

Comparative analysis of PR gene expression in tomato inoculated with virulent Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici and the biocontrol strain F. oxys…

2008

Non-pathogenic strains of Fusarium oxysporum have the capacity to protect plants against wilt induced by pathogenic strains of F. oxysporum. Among the mechanisms involved in this protection, induced systemic resistance has been demonstrated by using a split-root method. The aim of this study was to follow the accumulation kinetics of transcripts encoding 5 PR proteins in roots and leaves of tomato inoculated with a pathogenic or a protective strain in comparison to non-inoculated control. Moreover quantification of transcripts was assessed by real-time RT-PCR in cell cultures inoculated with the pathogenic or the protective strain. Results showed a lower expression of PR encoding genes in t…

Physical Inactivity from Youth to Adulthood and Risk of Impaired Glucose Metabolism

2018

INTRODUCTION: Physical activity (PA) is important in the prevention and treatment of impaired glucose metabolism. However, association of physical inactivity during the transition between childhood and adulthood with glucose metabolism is unknown. Therefore, we studied the association of persistent physical inactivity since childhood with glucose metabolism in adulthood. METHODS: Data were drawn from the ongoing, Cardiovascular Risk in Young Finns Study with repeated follow-ups between 1980 and 2011 (baseline age, 3-18 yr; n = 3596). Impaired glucose metabolism was defined as having impaired fasting glucose (6.1-6.9 mmol·L) or type 2 diabetes in adulthood. Leisure-time PA habits were repeat…

Improving the Aromatic Profiles of Catarratto Wines: Impact of Metschnikowia pulcherrima and Glutathione-Rich Inactivated Yeasts

2023

Catarratto is one of the most widely cultivated grape varieties in Sicily. It is an indigenous non-aromatic white grape variety. Despite its widespread use in winemaking, knowledge of the aroma and chemical and microbiological properties of Catarratto wines is quite limited. The influence of Metschnikowia pulcherrima combined with Saccharomyces cerevisiae on the aromatic expression of Catarratto wines was investigated with and without the addition of glutathione-rich inactivated yeast. The substance is a natural specific inactivated yeast with a guaranteed glutathione level used to limit oxidative processes. The aromatic profiles of the final wines were determined through analysis of the vo…

Recent advances in the research on herbicidally active aminomethylelebisphosphonic acids.

1999

Influence of the mode of application of herbicidally active N-pyridylaminomethylenebi-sphosphonic acids on their uptake by plants was studied in some detail. The experimental evidence is given that accounts for a multiple mode of action of these herbicides.
