Introduction: Inflammation and T cell activation have been also described as involved in pathophysiology of some complication of atherosclerosis, nevertheless no study has yet evaluated the relationship between KIR aplotypes and HLA alleles and acute cerebrovascular disease. Material and methods : Between November 2013 and February 2016, all consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke were recruited. As healthy controls we enrolled consecutive subjects without acute ischemic stroke. KIR aplotype and HLA allele phenotyping has been performed. Results : Subjects with acute ischemic stroke in comparison to subjects without acute ischemic stroke showed a significantly a higher frequency of …

RUOLO DELL'INTERAZIONE KIRs/HLA NEI PAZIENTI CON INFEZIONE CRONICA DA HBV

Background: The Natural Killer (NK) cells provide a major defense against several infections and their activity is regulated partially through inhibitory and activating killer cell immunoglobulin - like receptors (KIRs) interacting with human leukocyte antigens (HLA) class I molecules. The aim of this study is to assess whether the KIR and HLA repertoire may influence the course of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Methods: Till now, twenty – four patients with chronic HBV infection have been genotyped for KIRs and their HLA ligands, along with non-exposed subjects (HBsAg negative, anti - HBcAb positive with or without anti - HBsAb) as controls. Results: All the KIR haplotypes are represen…

Distribution of KIR Genes and Their HLA Ligands in Different Viral Infectious Diseases: Frequency Study in Sicilian Population

2022

Natural killer (NK) cells play a role in defence against viral infections by killing infected cells or by producing cytokines and interacting with adaptive immune cells. Killer immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIRs) regulate the activation of NK cells through their interaction with human leucocyte antigens (HLA). Ninety-six Sicilian patients positive to Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1 (HIV) and ninety-two Sicilian patients positive to SARS-CoV-2 were genotyped for KIRs and their HLA ligands. We also included fifty-six Sicilian patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) already recruited in our previous study. The aim of this study was to compare the distribution of KIR–HLA genes/groups of these t…

UNA NUOVA STRATEGIA TERAPEUTICA NEI PAZIENTI RICEVENTI TRAPIANTO DI RENE DA DONATORE VIVENTE SENSIBILIZZATI CON ANTICORPI ANTI-HLA SPECIFICI CONTRO I…

2009
