The present study focuses on the language socialization of parents in six bilingual families. The aim is to investigate how parents describe their linguistic identity and what kinds of changes over time can be traced in these identities. The present study is part of a wider ethnographic project which aims to deepen our understanding of how conceptions of language, bilingualism and bilingual development are manifested and negotiated in different situations and by different stakeholders in Finnish-Swedish bilingualism in Finland. The paper aims to offer an account of some representative opinions of ancient Greeks about the role of the space, conceived in its geographical/environmental value, in which a certain population lives, as well as of the language spoken by a population, in order to build historically the concept of Greek nation (to Hellenikón). The different positions expressed on these matters by Herodotus, Thucydides, Strabon and Pausanias are discussed, and the examination mostly concernes the ethnic and historical-linguistic aspects of the representation of the Dorians and Ionians.
Mapping soil water content under sparse vegetation and changeable sky conditions: comparison of two thermal inertia approaches

A critical analysis of a thermal inertia approach to map surface soil water content on bare and sparsely vegetated soils by means of remotely sensed data is reported. The study area is an experimental field located in Barrax, Spain. In situ data were acquired within the Barrax 2011 research project. An advanced hyperspectral scanner airborne imager provides images in the visible/near-infrared and thermal infrared bands. Images were acquired both in day and night times by the Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial between 12th and 13th of June 2011. This work presents an updated dichotomous key to all snake species of Europe, based on morphological, morphometric and distributional characters. It gathers data from both the last dichotomous keys concerning European snake species and every following paper giving updates on taxonomic classification or the occurrence of new allochthonous species. The key includes 58 snake taxa, including 57species and one still unnamed taxon, distributed on the European territory, and photographic material for each species. I denne artikkelen tar forfatterne opp til diskusjon Verdens helseorganisasjon (WHO) sin anbefaling for barn og unge om 60 minutter fysisk aktivt daglig, og et eksempel på hvordan denne helsebaserte anbefalingen blir innført som tiltak i norske skoler. Ved hjelp av sosiologiske begreper analyserer forfatterne hvordan fenomener, som for eksempel manglende fysisk aktivitet blant barn og unge, blir formulert som et samfunnsmessig problem og knyttes til handlinger og sosiale grupper. Deretter hvordan slike problemer og løsninger trekkes inn i skolen.
