Background and objectives: It is known that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) development process is imperceptible and can be asymptomatic for 20 or more years. It is of great importance to diagnose early inflammatory changes that can lead to COPD in young asymptomatic cigarette smokers. Fecal microbiota transplantation to maintain remission in Crohn’s disease: a pilot randomized controlled study

Abstract Background The role of the gut microbiota in Crohn’s disease (CD) is established and fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is an attractive therapeutic strategy. No randomized controlled clinical trial results are available. We performed a randomized, single-blind, sham-controlled pilot trial of FMT in adults with colonic or ileo-colonic CD. Method Patients enrolled while in flare received oral corticosteroid. Once in clinical remission, patients were randomized to receive either FMT or sham transplantation during a colonoscopy. P-450 isoenzymes (PB1, PB2, MC1, and MC2) NADPH-cytochrome P-450 reductase, the glutathione transferases (GSTs) B and C and microsomal epoxide hydrolase (mEHb) have been studied during nitrosamine-induced hepatocarcinogenesis using immunohistochemical techniques. Recent advances in the development of high-resolution 3D cadmium-zinc-telluride drift strip detectors.

In the last two decades, great efforts have been made in the development of 3D cadmium–zinc–telluride (CZT) detectors operating at room temperature for gamma-ray spectroscopic imaging. This work presents the spectroscopic performance of new high-resolution CZT drift strip detectors, recently developed at IMEM-CNR of Parma (Italy) in collaboration with due2lab (Italy). The detectors (19.4 mm × 19.4 mm × 6 mm) are organized into collecting anode strips (pitch of 1.6 mm) and drift strips (pitch of 0.4 mm) which are negatively biased to optimize electron charge collection. Evolving patterns of care and outcomes in relapsed/refractory FLT3 mutated acute myeloid leukemia adult patients.

We have analyzed treatment patterns and outcomes of relapsed/refractory(R/R) FLT3mut AML adult patients registered in our institutional data base between 1998 and 2018. Overall, 147 patients were evaluable: 34 from 1998 to 2009, 113 from 2010 to 2018. Salvage treatments were intensive chemotherapy ( n = 25, 74%), and supportive care ( n = 9, 26%) in the 1998-2009 period, and intensive chemotherapy ( n = 63, 56%), hypomethylating agent ( n = 7, 6%), low-dose cytarabine-based ( n = 8, 7%), clinical trial ( n = 16, 14%) and supportive care ( n = 19, 17%) in the 2010-2018 period. The purpose of this study was to evaluate feasibility and efficacy of Rituximab included into a sequential salvage protocol for CD20(+) B-NHL in relapse or induction failure. Twenty-seven patients with CD20(+) B-NHL in relapse or induction failure received Rituximab combined with DexaBEAM (R-DexaBEAM) for stem cell mobilization. Additional ex vivo selection of CD34-positive cells was performed using the CliniMacs device. Two doses of Rituximab were included in the high-dose therapy regimen (HDT).
