The azido ligand: a useful tool in designing chain compounds exhibiting alternating ferro- and antiferro-magnetic interactions
1997
A one-pot reaction of NiII 1, CoII 2, FeII 3 and MnII 4 with 2,2A-bipyridine (bipy) and azide in water leads to [M(bipy)(N3)2]n chains where the metal ion is alternatively bridged by double end-on (EO) and end-to-end (EE) azido bridges; theoretical analysis of the variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility data of 1 and 4 reveals the occurrence of intrachain alternating ferro- (through EO) and antiferro-magnetic (through EE) interactions. 2,2-Difluoro-3-(4-fluorophenyl)-2H-benzo[e][1,3,2]oxazaborinin-3-ium-2-uide
2017
There is one independent molecule in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C13H9BF3NO, which crystallizes in the non-centrosymmetric space groupCc. In the molecular structure, the BF2-carrying ring is distorted from planarity and its mean plane makes a dihedral angle of 42.3 (1)° with the 4-fluorophenyl ring. F atoms are involved in all of the short intermolecular contacts of the crystal structure, which link molecules to form chains along [001] and [010].
Latvijas nacionālās inovācijas sistēmas atbalsts jaunuzņēmumu attīstībai Baltijas valstu kontekstā
2019
Counter-complementarity control of the weak exchange interaction in a bent {Ni(ii)3 complex with a μ-phenoxide-μ-carboxylate double bridge
2019
We have prepared and structurally characterized a novel {Ni3} bent complex bearing a double μ-phenoxide-μ-carboxylate bridge. Both terminal Ni(ii) sites are symmetry related, offering a simplified exchange interaction scheme. DC magnetic data is consistent with a weak antiferromagnetic interaction between the central and terminal Ni(ii) ions. As expected for a Ni(ii) system, local zero-field splitting is observed, which can be experimentally established. Broken symmetry quantum chemical calculations, as well as ab initio CASSCF-SA-SOC computations that support the magnetic experimental data, were also performed. From the analysis of other reported closely related Ni(ii) systems, a counter-c…
Activated Biochar From Posidonia Oceanica. A New Adsorbent Material of Hydrocarbons from Wastewater
2019
Environmental pollution by petroleum derivatives is a very current topic. In particular, low concentration of this kind of pollutants can seriously compromise the life of animals and plants of aquatic ecosystems (Yu, 2017). The current legislation provides that bilgewater, wastewater produced by boats, can be discharged directly into the sea only if the total hydrocarbon concentration not exceds 15 mg L-1. In this work, new activated carbons were tested as adsorbent materials of oil / hydrocarbons from wastewater. Moreover, an instrumental technique able to quickly measure the required low hydrocarbons concentration is also proposed. The new activated carbons were obtained from bio-oil prod…
Hydrocarbons removal from wastewater by adsorption onto biochar from Posidonia oceanica
Environmental pollution by petroleum derivatives is a very current topic. In particular, low concentration of this kind of pollutants can seriously compromise the life of animals and plants of aquatic ecosystems [1]. For this reason, recent environmental legislation imposes severe restriction to oil-in-water content for overboard discharge with concentration limits from 15 to 5 ppm [2]. The shipping industry is trying to adapt to these directives by equipping ships with cleaning treatment devices in which there are several oil removal steps. Usually, the last step of bilge water treatment is based on adsorption onto suitable adsorbent materials that must be able to remove the last and most …
Sensory hybrid host materials for the selective chromo-fluorogenic detection of biogenic amines
2006
[EN] Pyrylium-containing mesoporous materials have been used for the chromo-fluorogenic sensing of biogenic amines in an aqueous environment.
Recent developments and applications of smart nanoparticles in biomedicine
2022
Abstract Over the last decades, nanotechnology applied in medicine (nanomedicine) has sparked great interest from the scientific community, thanks to the possibility to engineer nanostructured materials, including nanoparticles (NPs), for a specific application. Their small size confers them unique properties because they are subject to physical laws in the middle between classical and quantum physics. This review is proposed to explain better how to design a specific NP and clarify the relationship between the type, size, and shape of NPs and the specific medical applications. NPs are classified into inorganic (metallic NPs, quantum dots, carbon-based nanostructures, mesoporous silica NPs)…

Biphenyl derivatives containing trimethylsilyl benzyl ether or oxime groups as probes for NO2 detection
2016
[EN] Four probes based in the use of a biphenyl moiety and functionalized with trimethylsilyl benzyl ether (P1 and P3) and oxime (P2 and P4) groups have been prepared and tested as optical probes for the detection of NO2. Reaction of NO2 with acetonitrile solutions of P2-P4 resulted in the formation of aldehydes 7 and 8 with a concomitant redshift of the absorption bands. Probe P2 displayed a bathochromic shift of 45 nm upon reaction with NO2 and was able to detect this poisonous gas at concentrations as low as 0.02 ppm. P2 was highly selective against NO2 and other gases (i.e. NO, CO2, H2S, SO2) and vapours of organic solvents (i.e. acetone, hexane, chloroform, acetonitrile or toluene) had…
