TCP Performance in Mobile Ad hoc Networks

International audience; In this paper, we present a survey of TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) protocol for better performance in the MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network). After a short presentation of the main features of TCP, we give the most important problems from which TCP suffer in MANET. We present after that some approaches proposed in the literature in order to improve its performance. Our paper contains also a performance evaluation of TCP NewReno and TCP Vegas transport protocols under AODV and DSR routing protocols. The simulations are conducted under varying conditions of number of TCP connections, number of nodes and mobility.

Regulating Internet Trade in CITES Species

International trade in species that are or may be endangered by collection from the wild is regulated under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora (CITES) for 176 member States (Parties). Internet commerce is a relatively new route for such trade. In 2007, the CITES Secretariat asked Parties to collect information on internet wildlife trade and report problems and implemented regulations. The reports indicated it was difficult to even approximate the influence of e-commerce on CITES-listed species (CITES Secretariat 2009). This paper deals with the mathematical analysis of the spectral moments of non-wide-sensestationary uncorrelated-scattering (non-WSSUS) mobile-to-mobile (M2M) double-Rayleigh fading channels. The point of departure is a recently proposed geometry-based statistical model (GBSM) for M2M double-Rayleigh fading channels from which general analytical expressions are derived for the average Doppler shift, Doppler spread, average delay, and delay spread. Closed-form solutions of such expressions are presented for the particular case of the geometrical two-rings scattering model. The statistical properties of the capacity of narrowband double Hoyt fading channels are studied. Toward this end, analytical expressions for the probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the instantaneous channel capacity process are derived. Furthermore, for the characterization of the dynamical behavior of the time-varying channel capacity, expressions are provided for the level-crossing rate (LCR) and the average duration of fades (ADF). We consider the network of 5 416 537 articles of English Wikipedia extracted in 2017. Using the recent reduced Google matrix (REGOMAX) method we construct the reduced network of 230 articles (nodes) of infectious diseases and 195 articles of world countries. This method generates the reduced directed network between all 425 nodes taking into account all direct and indirect links with pathways via the huge global network.
