An Embedded Module for Iris Micro-Characteristics Extraction
2009
In this paper a new approach, based on iris micro-characteristics, has been used to make possible an embedded biometric extractor. This recognition approach is based on ophthalmologic studies that have proven the existence of different micro-characteristics as well as fingerprint minutiae. These micro-characteristics are permanent and immutable and they can be used to create strong and robust identification systems.Biometric recognition systems are critical components of our everyday lives. Since such electronic products evolve to software intensive systems, where software, becoming larger, more complex and prevalent, introduces many problems in the development phases. The development of em…
An embedded iris recognizer for portable and mobile devices
2010
Software-intensive systems play an increasingly dominant role in our lives and daily activities. Several applications, in which a timely response to user and environment stimulus is essential, require real-time software intensive systems. Computation-intensive applications, such as video compression, control systems, security systems, result in significant growth for processor workload. To address the above issues, one possible solution is to design embedded specialized components. At the same time, the integration of new features in portable and mobile devices is rapidly increasing. Several services and applications require robust user authentication for access to services, data, and resou…

Transformations socio-spatiales de Besançon : analyse exploratoire multi-dates
2009
This article proposes an analysis of socio-spatial configurations of various districts in the city of Besançon over the intercensal period from 1990 to 1999. This study is based on a multi-date exploratory statistical analysis trying to clarify the sustainable or unsustainable structures in the urban system. Census data for 1990 and 1999 are used to generate twenty or so indicators which characterize the enumeration districts of Besançon (these statistical areas are known as IRIS in French census). According to a factor analysis, we can observe the trajectories of the IRIS between the two chosen dates, which depend on the considered indicators. This analysis highlights the sociospatial orga…

Blessures et sentiments : les poèmes de Sinéad Morrissey
2018
This paper explores the poetry of Sinéad Morrissey (born in Portadown, Northern Ireland, in 1972), one of the most highly regarded of the younger generation of contemporary Irish poets. Taking into account her six collections to date – including There Was Fire in Vancouver (1996), The State of the Prisons (2005), Parallax (2013) and On Balance published in 2017, it examines the great variety of poetical strategies – analogy, metaphor, polysemy, play on form and perspective, pictorialism and iconicity, ekphrasis, etc. – that Morrissey uses to tell of most personal experiences (physical pain, exile, loss, pregnancy and motherhood, confrontation with forms of otherness, states of imprisonment,…

Relationship among Body Composition, Adipocytokines, and Irisin on Exercise Capacity and Quality of Life in COPD: A Pilot Study
2022
Adipose tissue is an endocrine organ that interferes with the severity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Although inflammatory markers, body composition, and nutritional status have a significant impact on pulmonary function, the real contribution of adipocytokines and myokines in COPD is still controversial. We aimed to evaluate the role played by the body composition, leptin, adiponectin, haptoglobin, and irisin on the functional exercise capacity, respiratory function, and quality of life (QoL) in COPD. In 25 COPD (20% GOLD-1; 60% GOLD-2; 20% GOLD-3) patients and 26 matched control subjects, we find that leptin, total adiponectin and haptoglobin are significantly increased…

'L’Iris illyrica'
2013
