A Dynamic Electrical Scheme for the optimal reconfiguration of PV modules under non-homogeneous solar irradiation

2012

This paper presents a strategy for the maximization of the output power of photovoltaic (PV) systems under non homogeneous solar irradiation by means of automatic reconfiguration of the PV arrays layout. The innovation of the proposed approach is the employment of a simple Dynamic Electrical Scheme (DES), allowing a large number of possible modules interconnection, to be installed between the PV generator and the inverter. The models of the PV generator and of the DES have been realized and simulated with Simulink (Dynamic System Simulation for MATLAB). The attained experimental results appear to be quite interesting in terms of the attainable benefit in power and thus energy terms. The lim…

Application of Molecular Topology for the Prediction of Reaction Yields and Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Heterocyclic Amidine Derivatives

2011

Topological-mathematical models based on multiple linear regression analyses have been built to predict the reaction yields and the anti-inflammatory activity of a set of heterocylic amidine derivatives, synthesized under environmental friendly conditions, using microwave irradiation. Two models with three variables each were selected. The models were validated by cross-validation and randomization tests. The final outcome demonstrates a good agreement between the predicted and experimental results, confirming the robustness of the method. These models also enabled the screening of virtual libraries for new amidine derivatives predicted to show higher values of reaction yields and anti-infl…

2018

Tutkimuksen tehtävänä on selvittää naisvankien näkemyksiä valvotusta koevapaudesta sekä millaisia näkemyksiä naisvangit nostavat esiin valvotun koevapauden prosessista. Tarkoi-tuksena on tarkastella naisvankien valvottua koevapautta naiserityisyyden, marginaalisuu-den ja rikollisuudesta irrottautumisen eli desistanssin käsitteen kautta. Valvottu koevapaus on tullut Suomen rangaistusjärjestelmään 1.1.2006 ja valvotun koeva-pauden lakia uudistettiin 1.1.2014. Valvottu koevapaus on vielä suhteellisen tuore rangaistusmuoto. Valvotun koevapauden tarkoituksena on saada vanki palautumaan asteittain takaisin yhteiskuntaan. Vanki voi päästä suorittamaan koevapautta valvonnan alaisena vapau-teen tiet…

Microwave-assisted synthesis of semiconductor nanoparticles in water/oil microemulsion

2005

Stable CdS and ZnS nanoparticles with exalted luminescence properties have been obtained in water/sodium bis (2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT)/n-heptane microemulsion using microwave in order to take away selectively water molecules from microemulsion system. The nanoparticles synthesis was performed using a microwave exposure set-up opportunely assembled that allows irradiating the reactor with microwave of 2.45 GHz maintaining constant the temperature. The nanoparticles growth kinetics, as a function of irradiation time, was performed by means of UV-Vis spectroscopy. Information about the structural changes that microemulsion undergoes when irradiated with microwave was obtained by mean…

Origins of radiation-induced attenuation in pure-silica-core and Ge-doped optical fibers under pulsed x-ray irradiation

2020

We investigated the nature, optical properties, and decay kinetics of point defects causing large transient attenuation increase observed in silica-based optical fibers exposed to short duration and high-dose rate x-ray pulses. The transient radiation-induced attenuation (RIA) spectra of pure-silica-core (PSC), Ge-doped, F-doped, and Ge + F-doped optical fibers (OFs) were acquired after the ionizing pulse in the spectral range of [∼0.8–∼3.2] eV (∼1500–∼380 nm), from a few ms to several minutes after the pulse, at both room temperature (RT) and liquid nitrogen temperature (LNT). Comparing the fiber behavior at both temperatures better highlights the thermally unstable point defects contribut…

Radiation Response of Ce-Codoped Germanosilicate and Phosphosilicate Optical Fibers

2016

We report an experimental investigation on the effects of Ce-codoping in determining the radiation response of germanosilicate and phosphosilicate Optical Fibers (OFs) in the UV-Visible domain and up to doses of $1~\hbox{MGy}({\rm SiO}_{2})$ . We show that the addition of Ce strongly impacts the Radiation Induced Attenuation (RIA) of both types of fibers. In the first case the radiation induced losses increase, whereas in the second one decrease. By combining the online RIA measurements with the Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) ones, we are able to infer the basic microscopic mechanisms taking place under irradiation, which involve the cerium codopant and some of the known Ge-related o…

Near‐IR Radiation‐Induced Attenuation of Aluminosilicate Optical Fibers

2021

The X-ray radiation-induced attenuation (RIA) growth kinetics are studied online in different single-mode aluminosilicate optical fibers in the near-IR (NIR) domain to evaluate their potential in terms of dosimetry. The optical fibers differ by Al contents, core sizes, drawing parameters, and also by a preform deposition process. The data show no dependence of the RIA on all these parameters, a positive result for the design of point or distributed radiation detectors exploiting RIA to monitor the dose. The RIA growth rate is unchanged for dose rates changing from 0.073 to 6.25 Gy(SiO2) s−1, and the RIA linearly increases with the dose up to 2 kGy(SiO2). Small but noticeable RIA changes are…
