Abstract
This article presents the Council of Europe’s educational policy, indicating its major milestones and characteristics when it comes to issues of cultural heritage. First it offers an analysis of the strategic documents (i.e. recommendation No. R (98) 5 of the committee of ministers to member states concerning heritage education and conventions, with emphasis on the Council of Europe Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society (Faro Convention). The notion of a common European Cultural Heritage as a shared and non-renewable resource is presented in the human rights approach to cultural heritage. The article pays special attention to intercultural dialogu…

Tommaso Stanislao Velasti e il filellenismo di fine Settecento

2022

The work of the Greek Jesuit originally from Scio, Tommaso Stanislao Velasti, constitutes a compendium of the philhellenic ideology which, starting from the second half of the eighteenth century, influenced the irredentist processes which in 1821 led Greece to proclaim its independence from the Sublime Porte. In his research path, Velasti was lucky enough to come across the works of Albanian intellectuals from Sicily, at whose Palermo seminar he was able to dwell in the crucial years of his ideological turning point. The study of some fundamental documents that emerged from the archive of the Seminary founded by Fr. Giorgio Guzzetta highlighted the filiation of fundamental ideas of identity…

Oblio, identità e verità (parte seconda)

2022

Beyond Lampedusa: Africa Meets Europe / Para Lá de Lampedusa: A África Encontra a Europa

2013

The volume, resulting from a photograph exhibit that travelled the globe (Portugal, China, USA, Nigeria, Italy, etc.), offers a miscellaneous portrayal of the history of African photography and its influence on non-African imaginings of Africa and the African diaspora in all its diversity. My essay comments on the photographic representation of the black body in Italy in both colonial and postcolonial times.

The link between vocational identity, study choice motivation and satisfaction with studies

2010

Abstract The study explores the link between student's vocational identity, motivation for their study choice, satisfaction with different aspects of studies and thoughts of leaving their studies. The following instruments were administered: 1) Questionnaire on satisfaction with different aspects of study process and student's future 2) My Vocational Situation (MVS, Holland, Daiger, Power, 1980); 3) Questionnaire of motivation for study choice. The study was conducted with 120 students at the Vidzeme's University of Applied Sciences in Latvia. The results show the correlation between the high level of student's vocational identity, intrinsic motivation for study choice and higher satisfacti…

The dynamical equation of the effective gluon mass

2011

In this article we derive the integral equation that controls the momentum dependence of the effective gluon mass in the Landau gauge. This is accomplished by means of a well-defined separation of the corresponding "one-loop dressed" Schwinger-Dyson equation into two distinct contributions, one associated with the mass and one with the standard kinetic part of the gluon. The entire construction relies on the existence of a longitudinally coupled vertex of nonperturbative origin, which enforces gauge invariance in the presence of a dynamical mass. The specific structure of the resulting mass equation, supplemented by the additional requirement of a positive-definite gluon mass, imposes a rat…

Chiral symmetry andπ-πscattering in the covariant spectator theory

2014

The π-π scattering amplitude calculated with a model for the quark-antiquark interaction in the framework of the Covariant Spectator Theory (CST) is shown to satisfy the Adler zero constraint imposed by chiral symmetry. The CST formalism is established in Minkowski space and our calculations are performed in momentum space. We prove that the axial-vector Ward-Takahashi identity is satisfied by our model. Then we show that, similarly to what happens within the Bethe-Salpeter formalism, application of the axial-vector Ward Takahashi identity to the CST π-π scattering amplitude allows us to sum the intermediate quark-quark interactions to all orders. Thus, the Adler self-consistency zero for π…

Does social climate influence positive eWOM? A study of heavy-users of online communities.

2018

Abstract This paper provides a deeper understanding of the role of social influences on positive eWOM behaviour (PeWOM) of heavy-users of online communities. Drawing on Social Interaction Utility Framework, Group Marketing and Social Learning Theories, we develop and test a research model integrating the interactions between the social climate of a website and Interpersonal Influences in PeWOM. 262 Spanish heavy-users of online communities were selected and the data analysed using partial least squares equation modelling. Overall, the model explains 59% of the variance of PeWOM on online communities. Findings reveal that interaction with other members of the online community (Social Presenc…

Professional Agency, Identity, and Emotions While Leaving One’s Work Organization

2015

This study investigated the enactment of professional agency in an emotionally troubled work context emerging from a conflicted relationship between the professional and the work organization. Narrative interviews with Finnish educators were utilized. The findings indicate that the enactment of agency was in part framed by the educators’ rational interpretations of the relationship between themselves and their employer, plus their work history and future prospects. However, it was simultaneously embedded with contradictory emotions, such as a sense of being undervalued, fear, and a sense of empowerment. Within this framework, multifaceted professional agency was enacted particularly via lea…
