Purpose MAINZ pouch I urinary diversion provides a high-capacity, low-pressure reservoir. The use of terminal ileum can cause a decrease of vitamin B12 levels. Symptoms caused by vitamin B12 deficiency are rare, but some are irreversible, therefore annual check-ups are recommended. In this study the vitamin B12 levels in the above patients were analyzed in retrospect. Material and Methods The ileocecal segment was used for urinary tract reconstruction in > 80 children ≤17 years of age. Jejunoileal diverticulosis is a rare, often asymptomatic condition, consisting of acquired false diverticula. Diagnosis of ileal perforation is usually made incidentally or after complications, including obstruction, haemorrhage, and diverticulitis. A previously healthy 17-year-old man presented to the Emergency Department with diffuse abdominal pain and fever. CT scan showed air-fluid level in the RLQ and free intraperitoneal air and fluid. The patient underwent an urgent exploratory laparotomy with an intestinal resection and primary anastomosis. In Mediterranean Europe, terrace landscapes can be found where 1) the orography is characterized by hills or mountains, 2) there is a high amount of stone outcrops and 3) the human need for agricultural production was quite high till the recent past.
