3×3 Technique for RGB Snapshot Mapping of Skin Chromophores

2015

Three monochromatic spectral images have been extracted from a single RGB image data set at simultaneous illumination of skin by 473nm, 532nm and 609nm spectral lines. They were further transformed into distribution maps of three skin chromophores - melanin, oxy-hemoglobin and deoxy-hemoglobin, related to pigmented and vascular skin malformations. Performance and clinical potential of the proposed 3×3 technique is discussed.

Skin chromophore mapping by modified video-microscope

2013

Possibilities to map skin chromophores using a modified low-cost digital video-microscope is discussed. The device comprises CMOS digital imaging sensor, four-colour LED illumination system and image acquisition optics. The main goal is to obtain a set of spectral images of the skin area of interest for further conversion into maps of the main skin chromophores

Skin chromphore mapping by means of a modified video-microscope for skin malformation diagnosis

2013

Many spectral imaging devices are commercially available and used to detect certain skin pathology; however an alternative cost-efficient device can provide an advanced spectral analisys of skin. Multispectral device for diagnosis of pigmented skin lesions was developed and tested. Possibilities to map skin chromophores using a modified low-cost digital video-microscope is discussed. It was adapted for an advanced skin microscopy and used for detailed spectral analysis of skin. The device comprises CMOS digital imaging sensor, four-colour LED illumination system and image acquisition optics. The main goal is to obtain a set of spectral images of the skin area of interest for further convers…

Bonnes pratiques de radiothérapie guidée par l’image

2015

Image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) aims to take into account the anatomical variations occurring during the course of radiotherapy, by direct or indirect visualization of the target volume followed by a corrective action. The movements of the target, or at least the set-up errors are corrected by moving the treatment table, corresponding to the simplest and most validated IGRT modality in a standard practice. The deformations of the target volume and organs at risk are however much more common, and unfortunately much more complicated to consider, requiring multiple planning before or during the treatment, corresponding to the adaptive radiotherapy strategies. The planning target volume must b…

Development of a Protocol for CCD Calibration: Application to a Multispectral Imaging System

2005

In this paper we describe in detail a method for calibrating a CCD-based camera. The calibration aims to remove both temporal and systematic noises introduced by the sensor, electronics, and optics after which we can correct the non-linearity of its response. For the non-linearity correction we use a simple and powerful approach consisting on a complementary approach between a polynomial fitting and an LUT based algorithm. The proposed methodology is accurate in the sense that it takes into account individual characteristics of each pixel. In each pixel, systematic noises are measured through acquiring offset images, thermal images, and FlatField images. A rigorous protocol for acquiring th…

Continent urinary diversion in childhood

1992

Continence and a positive body image are important, especially to the adolescent patient. Since 1964 we have used ureterosigmoidostomy and have achieved a complete continence rate of 92.3%. The creation of a low-pressure reservoir by antimesenteric splitting of the recto-sigmoid eliminated many of the shortcomings of ureterosigmoidostomy. This procedure is termed the sigma-rectum pouch and has been applied in six children to date. Mainz-pouch bladder augmentation or substitution has been performed in 20 children, 17 of whom are completely continent. The results of the modified Young Dees procedure were disappointing. In three children, conversion into a continent diversion was necessary. Al…

Background: Motor imagery is a potential tool to investigate action representation, as it can provide insights into the processes of action planning and preparation. Recent studies suggest that depressed patients present specific impairment in mental rotation. The present study was designed to investigate the influence of unipolar depression on motor imagery ability. Methods: Fourteen right-handed patients meeting DSM-IV criteria for unipolar depression were compared to fourteen matched healthy controls. Imagery ability was accessed by the timing correspondence between executed and imagined movements during a pointing task, involving strong spatiotemporal constraints (speed/accuracy trade of…

Motor imagery and action observation following immobilization-induced hypoactivity: A narrative review.

2020

Abstract Background In sports, the risk of pathology or event that leads to an injury, a cessation of practice or even to an immobilization is high. The subsequent reduction of physical activity, or hypoactivity, induces neural and muscular changes that adversely affect motor skills and functional motor rehabilitation. Because the implementation of physical practice is difficult, if not impossible, during and immediately following injury or immobilization, complementary techniques have been proposed to minimize the deleterious impact of hypoactivity on neuromuscular function. Objective The current narrative review aimed to discuss the contributions of motor imagery and action observation, w…
