BACKGROUND Arachnoid cysts of the paranasal sinus are rare. They have not been described yet in the sphenoid sinus. PATIENT AND METHOD Microscopic-endoscopic endonasal surgery of the sphenoid sinus was performed on a 34-year-old female with a history of chronic headaches and a suspected mucocele of the sphenoid sinus in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies. An extended arachnoid cyst was found in the enlarged sphenoid sinus, which was obliterated with collagen, fibrin glue, and abdominal fat. Purpose To assess the potential of 3-D spiral CT in the selection of adequate double-lumen tubes (DLT) for one-lung-ventilation. Materials and methods 3-D spiral CT of eight different DLTs was performed with standardized acquisition parameters: section thickness 4 mm, table speed 6 mm/s, increment 3 mm and standardised thresholds, window settings and magnification zoom. Infrared thermal imaging in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

OBJECTIVE. Musculoskeletal injuries occur frequently. Diagnostic tests using ionizing radiation can lead to problems for patients, and infrared thermal imaging could be useful when diagnosing these injuries. CONCLUSION. A systematic review was performed to determine the diagnostic accuracy of infrared thermal imaging in patients with musculoskeletal injuries. A meta-analysis of three studies evaluating stress fractures was performed and found a lack of support for the usefulness of infrared thermal imaging in musculoskeletal injuries diagnosis.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE A sensitive and frequent clinical sign of a vestibular tone imbalance is the tilt of the perceived subjective visual vertical (SVV). There are no data yet focusing on lesion location at the cortical level as a factor for predicting compensation from the tilt of the SVV. METHODS With modern voxelwise lesion behavior mapping analysis, the present study determines whether lesion location in 23 right-hemispheric cortical stroke patients with an otolith dysfunction could predict the compensation of a vestibular tone imbalance in the chronic stage. Longitudinal imaging and evaluation of SAH-associated cerebral large artery vasospasm in mice using micro-CT and angiography

Longitudinal in vivo imaging studies characterizing subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)-induced large artery vasospasm (LAV) in mice are lacking. We developed a SAH-scoring system to assess SAH severity in mice using micro CT and longitudinally analysed LAV by intravenous digital subtraction angiography (i.v. DSA). Thirty female C57Bl/6J-mice (7 sham, 23 SAH) were implanted with central venous ports for repetitive contrast agent administration. SAH was induced by filament perforation.
