A Comparative Study on the Implementation of the Free Movement Directive: Transposition, Application and Enforcement in Belgium, Italy and the UK Com…

The Free Movement Directive is the key EU legal instrument that regulates the free movement of persons within the thirty-one countries that make up the European Economic Area. Implementation of Directive 2004/38 by the Member States has been far from satisfactory and the Commission has deplored the fact that not a single Member State had been able to implement the Directive correctly. The enforcement action that the Commission has so far taken does not appear to have necessarily been linked to how well transposition complies with the Directive in individual Member States. In other words, the way in which the Directive has been written into national law does not seem to be the only factor th…

Performing arts and mediation technology in the period of lockdown

2021

Advancements in digital technologies have become novel ways to enrich communication, expression, and transmission of arts knowledge. Technology is increasingly implemented in the performance space, as a source of inspiration for artists. Especially in this period of lockdown, mediation technology has turned out to be an essential tool for different aspects of social life, as in performing arts. With venues, schools and artistic activities closed, performers, students and spectators have been obliged to keep connecting in remote conditions. This article wants to retrace the aesthetic impact of mediation technology in performing arts during this period of lockdown by focusing on the aspects t…

The goal is to illustrate the potentialities as well as the challenges of the arttechnology encounter by underlining the transformation of the interaction with and perception of the performance space in remote conditions and in distance learning. The implementation of digital technologies is contributing to the evolution of the performing arts sector by facilitating futuristic approaches. 402 412mediation technology has turned out to be an essential tool for different aspects of social lifeas in performing arts. De la performance musicale dans la Guyane traditionnelle : expression cognitive singulière d?une musique-verbe

2021

Guianese culture and traditional music, here evoked, are various. It is more a transcultural process that, along centuries, gave an original result born in the Americas, in Guiana in this case. It is a form of refoundation, of recreation of cultures and new human beings generally called Creoles. The musical performance, that I study here, is the echo of social and cultural space of this reformulation of thought, life, and conception of the world. It is, as well, a mean of transposition and transformation of the values issued of diverse sources and categories. It is in no way a second-rate cultural practice, as it is the place where were born philosophies and actions for common life as well …

as it is the place where were born philosophies and actions for common life as well as for individual life. This organization of the musical experience requires several levels of readings to better understand the underlying performance that is the issue discussed here. What is then the subject of the musical performance in French Guianese traditional society? What are the implementation techniques and the intrinsic forms of knowledge? What is the creation process and for what goal? Without a doubtlifeUNESCO::CIENCIAS DE LAS ARTES Y LAS LETRASand conception of the world. Less Data Same Information for Event-Based Sensors: A Bioinspired Filtering and Data Reduction Algorithm

2018

Sensors provide data which need to be processed after acquisition to remove noise and extract relevant information. When the sensor is a network node and acquired data are to be transmitted to other nodes (e.g., through Ethernet), the amount of generated data from multiple nodes can overload the communication channel. The reduction of generated data implies the possibility of lower hardware requirements and less power consumption for the hardware devices. This work proposes a filtering algorithm (LDSI&mdash

Cyber Security Strategy Implementation Architecture in a Value System

2018

In this chapter, we introduce an approach toward enhancing the quality of strategy implementation. As a framework, we use cybersecurity strategy implementation planning and execution. Justification for this work is the observed need to be able to perform strategy readjustment processes quickly and in an agile way, when needed. This requires processes and practices that are simple enough and executable with small resources in a relatively short timeframe. The problem statement can be formulated as follows: “We need to determine an utterly simplified, noncomplicated model to help us to tackle the complex problem of implementing a cybersecurity strategy of adequate efficiency in a changing ope…

Exposing ecological and economic costs of the research-implementation gap and compromises in decision making

2018

The frequently discussed gap between conservation science and practice is manifest in the gap between spatial conservation prioritization plans and their implementation. We analyzed the research-implementation gap of one zoning case by comparing results of a spatial prioritization analysis aimed at avoiding ecological impact of peat mining in a regional zoning process with the final zoning plan. We examined the relatively complex planning process to determine the gaps among research, zoning, and decision making. We quantified the ecological costs of the differing trade-offs between ecological and socioeconomic factors included in the different zoning suggestions by comparing the landscape-l…

Reforming policy, changing practices? : special education in Finland after educational reforms

2019

The aim of the research was to examine the changes in special education practices following the funding reform in 2010 and the reform of the Basic Education Act in 2011. The research focused on studying if the practices in municipalities and schools have changed according to the aims of the reforms. In addition, the research examined variations in the practices and changes among municipalities and schools as well as the factors that explained the variations. The research was based on three kinds of data: a survey of principals (N = 335), interviews with high-ranking officials in the municipal education administration (N = 7), and the official statistics for special education in municipalitie…

Implementering av elektroniske legemiddelkurven på et sykehus

2014

Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI 500 Universitetet i Agder 2014 Background: This rapport is a student project as a part of the final year program for master degree in Health and social Informatics at Agder University. The implementation of electronic prescribing systems in the health sector is a priority for both the public policy and for the management of hospitals. It is expected that such systems will increase the work capacity of the employees, improve information flow and reduce medication errors. Akershus University Hospital is the only hospital in Norway that has implemented an electronic prescribing system at the ward units. But implementation is seriously delayed com…
