Graph Connectivity, Monadic NP and built-in relations of moderate degree

1995

It has been conjectured [FSV93] that an existential secondoder formula, in which the second-order quantification is restricted to unary relations (i.e. a Monadic NP formula), cannot express Graph Connectivity even in the presence of arbitrary built-in relations.

Finitary Representations and Images of Transitive Finitary Permutation Groups

1999

Abstract We characterize the point stabilizers and kernels of finitary permutation representations of infinite transitive groups of finitary permutations. Moreover, the number of such representations is determined.

Transforming XML documents to OWL ontologies: A survey

2015

The aims of XML data conversion to ontologies are the indexing, integration and enrichment of existing ontologies with knowledge acquired from these sources. The contribution of this paper consists in providing a classification of the approaches used for the conversion of XML documents into OWL ontologies. This classification underlines the usage profile of each conversion method, providing a clear description of the advantages and drawbacks belonging to each method. Hence, this paper focuses on two main processes, which are ontology enrichment and ontology population using XML data. Ontology enrichment is related to the schema of the ontology (TBox), and ontology population is related to …

Early Parental Death and Risk of Psychosis in Offspring: A Six-Country Case-Control Study

2019

Evidence for early parental death as a risk factor for psychosis in offspring is inconclusive. We analyzed data from a six-country, case-control study to examine the associations of early parental death, type of death (maternal, paternal, both), and child’s age at death with psychosis, both overall and by ethnic group. In fully adjusted multivariable mixed-effects logistic regression models, experiencing early parental death was associated with 1.54-fold greater odds of psychosis (95% confidence interval (CI): 1.23, 1.92). Experiencing maternal death had 2.27-fold greater odds (95% CI: 1.18, 4.37), paternal death had 1.14-fold greater odds (95% CI: 0.79, 1.64), and both deaths had 4.4…

Attività musicale, patrocinio e condizione femminile nei monasteri palermitani (sec. XVII-XVIII)

2016

Resonance Dipole-Dipole Interaction Between Two Accelerated Atoms in the Presence of a Reflecting Plane Boundary

2018

We study the resonant dipole-dipole interaction energy between two uniformly accelerated identical atoms, one excited and the other in the ground state, prepared in a correlated {\em Bell-type} state, and interacting with the scalar field or the electromagnetic field nearby a perfectly reflecting plate. We suppose the two atoms moving with the same uniform acceleration, parallel to the plane boundary, and that their separation is constant during the motion. We separate the contributions of vacuum fluctuations and radiation reaction field to the resonance energy shift of the two-atom system, and show that Unruh thermal fluctuations do not affect the resonance interaction, which is exclusivel…
