Intrarenal venous flow in cardiorenal syndrome: a shining light into the darkness

2018

Abstract The aim of this case report is to assess the potential role of intrarenal Doppler ultrasonography as a non‐invasive method to evaluate intrarenal venous flow (IRVF) in acute heart failure (AHF) and concomitant renal dysfunction. We report a case of an 81‐year‐old woman with valvular heart disease (previous mitral valve replacement) that presented with acutely decompensated heart failure and concomitant worsening renal function (WRF). In addition to complete physical examination, laboratory analysis, and echocardiography, IRVF was assessed at baseline and 48 h after the administration of diuretic treatment. At admission, physical examination and echocardiography revealed signs of in…

Action and Deontology

2015

This chapter is concerned with the deontology of actions. According to the presented approach, actions and not propositions are deontologically loaded. Norms direct actions and define the circumstances in which actions are permitted, prohibited, or mandated. Norms are therefore viewed as deontological rules of conduct. The definitions of permission, prohibition, and obligatoriness of an action are formulated in terms of the relation of transition of an action system. A typology of atomic norms is presented. To each atomic norm a proposition is associated and called the normative proposition corresponding to this norm. A logical system, the basic deontic logic, is defined and an adequate sem…

Argumentation graphs with constraint-based reasoning for collaborative expertise

2018

International audience; Collaborative processes are very important in telemedicine domain since they allow for making right decisions in complex situations with multidisciplinary staff. When modelling these collaborative processes, some inconsistencies can appear. In semantic modelling (conceptual graphs), these inconsistencies are verified using constraints. In this work, collaborative processes are represented using an argumentation system modelled in a conceptual graph formalism where inconsistencies could be particular bad attack relation between arguments. To overcome these inconsistencies, two solutions are proposed. The first one is to weight the arguments evolving in the argumentati…

Mancato contro-esame dei testimoni a carico e iniquità del processo penale

2022

This is a note to the judgment in the case Faysal Pamuk v. Turkey (application no. 430/13), rendered by the European Court of Human Rights. The contribution explores the violation of Article 6 §§ 1 (right to a fair trial) and 3 (d) (right to obtain attendance and examination of witnesses) of the European Convention on Human Rights. The case concerned Mr Pamuk’s trial on terrorism-related charges, in particular the use of evidence that had been given in other jurisdictions in the absence of Mr Pamuk or his counsel following letters of request. The Court found in particular that letters of request and examining witnesses in other jurisdictions could not be considered an adequate method of ens…

Dynamic architecture and regulatory implications of the miRNA network underlying the response to stress in melon

2019

miRNAs are small RNAs that regulate mRNAs at both transcriptional and posttranscriptional level. In plants, miRNAs are involved in the regulation of different processes including development and stress-response. Elucidating how stress-responsive miRNAs are regulated is key to understand the global response to stress but also to develop efficient biotechnological tools that could help to cope with stress. Here, we describe a computational approach based on sRNA sequencing, transcript quantification and degradome data to analyse the accumulation, function and structural organization of melon miRNAs reactivated under seven biotic and abiotic stress conditions at two and four days post-treatmen…

Mens sana in corpore exhausto. Emociones y gestión de sí en escuelas secundarias del sur global

2020

In recent years, emotional education has become a central element in a series of guidelines on a global scale that have been translated into various state initiatives aimed at education. Thus, Mens sana in corpore exhausto proposes to demonstrate the tension that is expressed between the growing series of discourses on emotional education and the school climate and the exhaustive bodies of teachers and directors of public secondary schools in the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires (RMBA). By way of hypothesis, these policies are considered to work on the bodies of teachers and directors, encouraging them to continue and not stop under the logic of management and self-management that throw …

Program for coordinated dental care under general anaesthesia for children with special needs

2007

Aim: To draw up a program for coordination of dental care for children with special needs between the Course at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCMC) (Specialisation in holistic dental care for children with special needs), and the Disabled Children?s Oral Health Unit (DCOHU) within the Madrid Health Service (SERMAS). Material and methods: UCMC Protocol for children with special needs. Design of a clinical pathway based on consensus amongst the professionals involved. Results: Algorithm for dental care for children with special needs. Matrix covering all activities and timing for full dental diagnosis in such patients (general health, oral health and behaviour) to facilitate proper r…
