Variational differential inclusions without ellipticity condition
2020
The paper sets forth a new type of variational problem without any ellipticity or monotonicity condition. A prototype is a differential inclusion whose driving operator is the competing weighted $(p,q)$-Laplacian $-\Delta_p u+\mu\Delta_q u$ with $\mu\in \mathbb{R}$. Local and nonlocal boundary value problems fitting into this nonstandard setting are examined.
Game-Theoretic Learning and Allocations in Robust Dynamic Coalitional Games
2019
The problem of allocation in coalitional games with noisy observations and dynamic environments is considered. The evolution of the excess is modeled by a stochastic differential inclusion involvin...

Internal Differentiation of the Archean Continental Crust: Fluid-Controlled Partial Melting of Granulites and TTG-Amphibolite Associations in Central…
2009
Fault bound blocks of granulite and enderbite occur within upper amphibolite-facies migmatitic tonalitic-trondhjemitic-granodioritic (TTG) gneisses of the Iisalmi block of Central Finland. These units record reworking and partial melting of different levels of the Archean crust during a major tectonothermal event at 2·6-2·7 Ga. Anhydrous mineral assemblages and tonalitic melts in the granulites formed as a result of hydrous phase breakdown melting reactions involving amphibole at peak metamorphic conditions of 8-11 kbar and 750-900°C. A nominally fluid-absent melting regime in the granulites is supported by the presence of carbonic fluid inclusions. The geochemical signature of light rare e…
The interrelation between stochastic differential inclusions and set-valued stochastic differential equations
2013
Abstract In this paper we connect the well established theory of stochastic differential inclusions with a new theory of set-valued stochastic differential equations. Solutions to the latter equations are understood as continuous mappings taking on their values in the hyperspace of nonempty, bounded, convex and closed subsets of the space L 2 consisting of square integrable random vectors. We show that for the solution X to a set-valued stochastic differential equation corresponding to a stochastic differential inclusion, there exists a solution x for this inclusion that is a ‖ ⋅ ‖ L 2 -continuous selection of X . This result enables us to draw inferences about the reachable sets of solutio…
A product space reformulation with reduced dimension for splitting algorithms
2021
AbstractIn this paper we propose a product space reformulation to transform monotone inclusions described by finitely many operators on a Hilbert space into equivalent two-operator problems. Our approach relies on Pierra’s classical reformulation with a different decomposition, which results in a reduction of the dimension of the outcoming product Hilbert space. We discuss the case of not necessarily convex feasibility and best approximation problems. By applying existing splitting methods to the proposed reformulation we obtain new parallel variants of them with a reduction in the number of variables. The convergence of the new algorithms is straightforwardly derived with no further assump…
¿Movilidad inclusiva o accesibilidad inclusiva?
2017
Reversing the Trend: a Psychosocial Intervention on Young Immigrants in Sicily
2018
Intervention projects based on providing support for immigrants can offer a number of benefits with regard to the social inclusion of young immigrants. Therefore, the actions suggested in this proposal may not only create a network between institutions and the private sector capable of supporting the intervention of a host country, but may also help to reduce the risk of crime as well as advocating a sense of otherness and integration. The approach to the project, a psychosocial intervention carried out on four young Africans who reached Sicily after crossing the Sicilian Channel on a dilapidated boat, has chiefly been to provide the four individuals with the chance to revisit their origina…
Reaction between Cu-bearing minerals and hydrothermal fluids at 800 °C and 200 MPa: Constraints from synthetic fluid inclusions
2020
Abstract Transport and deposition of copper in the Earth's crust are mainly controlled by the solubility of Cu-bearing phases and the speciation of Cu in magmatic-hydrothermal fluids. To improve our understanding of copper mobilization by hydrothermal fluids, we conducted an experimental study on the interaction between Cu-bearing phases (metallic copper, Cu2O, CuCl) and aqueous chloride solutions (H2O ± NaCl ± HCl; with Cl concentrations of 0 to 4.3 mol kg-1). The experiments were run in rapid heat/rapid quench cold-seal pressure vessels at 800 °C, 200 MPa, and logfO2 ~ NNO+2.3. Either Cu or Au capsules were used as containers. The reaction products were sampled in situ by the entrapment o…
Neuraminidase deficiency presenting as non-immune hydrops fetalis
1984
A newborn infant with oedema, ascites and hepatosplenomegaly is described. In ascites fluid foamy macrophages were found, in a liver biopsy cytoplasmic inclusions and membrane-bound vacuoles were seen. Furthermore the child excreted excessive amounts of sialic acid-rich oligosaccharides in the urine, and therefore a neurovisceral degenerative disorder was assumed. The diagnosis of sialidosis was confirmed by enzymatic assay in cultured fibroblasts, in which a complete deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme neuraminidase could be demonstrated. After recurrent septicaemias the child became dystrophic and died at the age of 6 months. Our case is compared with sialidosis observed by other authors, …
