Long-transient conoscopic pattern technique

0038-1098; Recent results on laser induced anisotropy in terbium gallium garnet are extended to the dynamic regime. We observed that the characteristic conoscopic pattern formation time presents a quadratic dependence on the beam size. The observed pattern intensity is accounted for by a simple analytical formula. The transient refractive index change due to thermal stress in the terbium gallium garnet is determined. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
Refractive index sensing by a silicon metasurface

The availability of smart materials represents a key enabling milestone for the realization of smart sensors. In this research field, optical sensing has gained a lot of attention in various applications ranging from basic physics to chemistry and biology. Here, we exploit the non-invasive nature of light to achieve an innovative sensor based on all-optical dielectric nano-resonators arranged in a periodic fashion. The proposed sensor can measure refractive index changes up to 10(-6).

In this work we introduce a model for studying the distribution and control of atmospheric pollution from PM10. The model is based on the use of a cellular neural network (CNN) and more precisely on the integration of the mass-balance equation; at the same time it simulates the scenario regarding a planar grid describing the whole studied area (the city of Palermo) by means of a CNN and a set of Bayesian networks. Apikālais periodontīts (AP) ir izplatīta hroniska iekaisuma slimība, kas izpaužas kā dinamiska organisma aizsargreakcija pret mikrobu infekciju zobu sakņu kanālu sistēmā. Pētījumi liecina, ka AP ir plaši izplatīts pieaugušajiem - vismaz viens zobs ar AP ir 27 - 80% pieaugušo (Kirkevang & Vaeth, 2019). AP ir tieša saistība ar sakņu kanālu ārstēšanas kvalitāti – nekvalitatīva ārstēšana tiek saistīta ar palielinātu AP izplatību (Chala et al., 2011; Meirinhos et al., 2020). Darba mērķis bija izpētīt apikālā periodontīta izplatību un endodontiskās ārstēšanas biežumu un kvalitāti izvēlētā Latvijas pieaugušo populācijā.
