Interrelationships of the Haploporinae (Digenea: Haploporidae): A molecular test of the taxonomic framework based on morphology

The taxonomic framework of the Haploporidae is evaluated and the relationships within the Haploporinae are assessed for the first time at the generic level using molecular data. Partial 28S and complete ITS2 rDNA sequences from representatives of six of the nine recognised genera within the Haploporinae were analysed together with published sequences representing members of two haploporid subfamilies and of the closely related family Atractotrematidae. We assessed the prevalence of impaired liver function in 47 patients suffering from brucellosis consecutively admitted to our department over the last five years. Parameters of liver function and ultrasound of the upper abdomen were performed at entry and at the end of treatment. On admission, mean transaminase values were elevated and significantly higher than at recovery (p 0.001): 38 percent and 53 percent of patients had elevated baseline values of GOT and GPT vs 13 and 19% at the end of treatment, respectively. The sensitivity of buckwheat plants to pathogens under conditions of mixed viral and mycoplasmal infection

It was investigated, that mixed infection of buckwheat distributed in various ecological regions of Ukraine, the pathogens that belong to different taxonomic groups have different and peculiar morphological and structural properties. First was shown that buckwheat is affected by buckwheat burn virus (BBV) together with Mycoplasma. Mixed infection leads to proliferation of sepals, clarification of the flowers petals, reduction and greening of petals, hypoplasia or hypodevelopment of stamens and pistils: all of this can lead to partial or complete sterility.

Abstract Cytokeratin 18 (CK18) is a specific marker of hepatocellular apoptosis, which is a useful noninvasive indicator of liver fibrosis in the HIV/HCV group. However, data on the CK18 level in serum are limited for this group. This study demonstrated CK18 levels in serum in HIV/HCV co-infected and HIV mono-infected patients; investigated the association of CK18 levels with other non-invasive markers of liver fibrosis; and presents CK18 dynamics in a four-month-long period.
