PTNet: An efficient and green data center network

International audience; In recent years, data centers have witnessed an exponential growth for hosting hundreds of thousands of servers as well as to accommodating a very large demand for resources. To fulfill the required level of demand, some approaches tackled network aspects so to host a huge number of servers while others focused on delivering rapid services to the clients by minimizing the path length between any two servers. In general, network devices are often designed to achieve 1:1 oversubscription. Robust control of networks under discrete disturbances and controls

We consider dynamic networks where the disturbances and control actions take discrete values. We briefly survey some of our recent results establishing necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of robustly globally invariant (hyper box) sets, as well as sufficient conditions for global attractivity of such sets.We then establish connections between these results and existing results in the literature for the setup where all the inputs are analog. Finally, we derive tight upper and lower bounds on the smallest such set in the special case of a degenerate network.

A contention-based multiple access protocol in cooperative wireless networks

Cooperative communication has emerged as a promising technique to enhance system performance in wireless networks. This paper proposes a contention-based cooperative multiple medium access control protocol by means of multiple retransmissions of the same packet from different relay nodes. The proposed scheme exploits cooperative communication capability not only from time diversity derived from multiple temporal transmissions but also spatial diversity derived from distributed multiple relays.
