Niswiyya, Nisā’iyya and Unthawiyya: Some Reflections on Arabic Terms for ‘Feminism

This paper addresses three Arabic terms used for feminism: niswiyya, nisa'iyya and unthawiyya pointing out their connotations and semantic aspects. One of the problems which feminist scholars face is linguistic. There is a historical rejection of the term feminism and all its derivatives in Arabic. It is often perceived as a Western secular product that recalls the bitter experience of European colonialism. The paper draws from the reflection of two Egyptian Islamic intellectuals involved in the question of improving Egyptian women’s conditions. The chapter introduces Islamic feminism as a movement with a focus on three study cases from Egypt (Omaima Abou-Bakr), Iran (Ziba Mir-Hosseini), and the United States (Amina Wadud). In my section, I claim that besides being a social commitment, Islamic feminism is a form of moral cosmopolitanism, for it is a global and transnational movement. The advocacy of Islamic feminists is rooted in local contexts, at the same time they are involved in empowering international networks which allow them to meet activists from other domains, enforce their projects, share their experiences and work together for achieving their goals. Abstract Takaful (Islamic Insurance) achieved only recently a significant volume of academic research, despite its importance in addressing the insurance needs of Islamic societies and economies. We provide a thorough analysis of existing contributions on Takaful through a meta-literature methodology encompassing both a bibliometric (quantitative) and content (qualitative) analysis. By reviewing 69 articles, we aim at providing a rigorous background for the Islamic finance industry, its societies and economies, academic research and policymakers. A bibliometric review of sukuk literature

Abstract Sukuk (Islamic bonds) are one of the Islamic finance sectors that have experienced the fastest growth during the last decade. Using a quali-quantitative approach known as meta-literature review, the aim of this paper is to survey the sukuk literature over the period 1950–2018. In total we review and analyze 80 papers through bibliometric citation analysis (using HistCite and VOSviewer software) coupled with content analysis. We show the influential aspects of the literature, such as countries, institutions, journals, authors, articles and topics. Nel 1980 sono stati scavati alla periferia di Palermo 4 silos riutilizzati al momento della chiusura come butti. in questa sede si è ripresa la ceramica da fuoco leggendo i dati alla luce del processo di islamizzazione della città. Inoltre, si è cercato di capire all'interno della topografia di Palermo cosa potesse esserci in quest'area fuori dalle mura, vicina alle sorgenti del fiume Papireto. Con molta probabilità quest'area della città, usata come cava di pietra, era la sede delle truppe musulmane: il Muasqar delle fonti scritte.
