In recent years, participation of children in virtual worlds has grown and children are also the largest number of users of virtual worlds (KZero, 2009a). This growth in participation in virtual worlds has brought out discussion about their effects on children’s lives. Introduction to the SCIROCCO online participatory tool and its evaluation

Abstract This presentation will first introduce the SCIROCCO and SCIROCCO Exchange projects and the Maturity Model developed by the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing. Then, a demonstration will be made of the three main functionalities of the SCIROCCO tool: assessing the maturity of healthcare systems, assessing the maturity needs of good practices, twinning and coaching with its two variants. For each piece of functionality, the methodology of using the tool will also be presented. Multilevel Governance and Participation: Interpreting Democracy in EU-programmes

This article offers an ethnographically oriented, interpretive approach for the research into the democratic qualities of multilevel governance (MLG). The complex and networked MLG arrangements, such as the European Union's (EU) participatory policy practices, are changing the traditional roles of public administration and politics in ways we cannot yet fully foresee. This chapter presents a participatory model for promoting organisational learning and innovation with potential application in criminal justice related organisations. We share the sensemaking process engaged in by the COLAB consortium tasked with comparing and contrasting a range of participatory interventions and developing a potentially hybrid model that combined the strengths of each. Este artículo presenta un exhaustivo análisis del proceso judicial relativo al film Letty Lynton (1932), que, pese a ser un emblema del periodo clásico de Hollywood, fue prohibido en 1936, tras la denuncia de dos dramaturgos que acusaron a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer de haber plagiado una de sus obras. This project explores some current trends in journalistic textual practices that reflect media outlets’ increased need to engage readers through hybridized forms of coverage. It aims to demonstrate to what extent popular journalism has been assimilated by science communication. It examines a sample of 250 headlines collected over the period of eight months from the list of five “most-read” articles as displayed on the webpage of the international magazine New Scientist. Domestic violence and public participation in the media

Recent research suggests that as a social public problem, domestic violence is sustained in a number of social contexts that naturalize violence against women through gendered discourses and ideologies of male violence. This paper examines domestic violence vis-à-vis public participation in the media.
