Este trabajo estudia la relación excepcional entre acontecimientos históricos y género sacramental, a partir de un auto que se dio por perdido durante bastantes años. Se trata de El socorro de Cádiz de Juan Pérez de Montalbán en el que se alegoriza la defensa de Cádiz contra los ingleses en 1625. This paper analyzes the exceptional relationship between historical events and the sacramental genre, based on an «auto» that was considered lost during many years. This «auto» is El socorro de Cádiz by Juan Pérez de Montalbán, in which the playwright allegorizes the defense of Cádiz against the English in 1625.

The present paper examines the Spanish public schools inside the liberal educative system doing a detailed analysis of the Real Colegio de San Pablo of Valencia. The article studies this Real Colegio in order to point out the conflict provoked by political corruption, since Juan Bravo Murillo, a Spanish minister, appointed relatives to direction posts against the desires of Antonio Gil de Zárate, the founder of the Spanish liberal educative system. Following in the footsteps of Ian Macpherson, I offer an interpretation of an anonymous invención found in the Cancionero general (11CG-517) and the British Library Cancionero (LB1-251). I maintain that the image displayed by the jouster was inspired by the iconography of the virgin-martyr Saint Margaret of Antioch, and I propose a theory about the identity of the lady addressed and, with less certainty, about the identity of the jouster and the occasion when the invención was displayed, using Pinar’s Juego trobado as a tool of research and invoking a passage on the sinfulness of the fashion among ladies and damsels for wearing hooped petticoats in a treatise by Hernando de Talavera.
