Abstract This paper seeks to advance research on the nexus of language, work-related training and affective capitalism by focusing on an entrepreneurship workshop organized for newly arrived refugees in Germany. Despite the occupational orientation, the primary objective of the workshop was not establishing a business but “empowering” the participants by guiding them to adopt “an entrepreneurial mindset”. Abstract This special issue contributes to scholarship on language and affective economy by exploring the role played by affect in shaping work and workers under current configurations of capitalism. We take as a starting point the observation of increased valorisation and instrumentalisation of affect in the contemporary phase of capitalism. Transcriptional regulation of miR-224 upregulated in human HCCs by NFκB inflammatory pathways

Background & Aims: miR-224 is up-regulated in human HCCs as compared to both paired peri-tumoral cirrhotic tissues and cirrhotic livers without HCC. Here, we have cloned the miR-224 regulatory region and characterized its transcriptional regulation by the NFκB-dependent inflammatory pathways. Methods: Mature miRNA expression was evaluated by a 2 step stem-loop real-time RT-PCR. The recruitment of polymerase II and transcription factors on the pre-miR-224 promoter has been assessed by ChIPSeq and ChIP. Ar mutvārdu vēstures palīdzību, šos faktus iespējams atklāt no jauna, pavisam ar citu redzējumu. Pētījuma mērķis ir ar mutvārdu vēstures liecībām un publikāciju kontentanalīzi izpētīt un izprast dzīvi Rudes ciemā un Rojā 20. gadsimta 60.- 90. gados. Pētījuma gaitā veiktas intervijas ar Rojas novada iedzīvotājiem un veikta 18 publikāciju kontentanalīze, lai pēc iespējas vairāk uzzinātu par tā laika dzīvi. BackgroundWhether the oral factor Xa inhibitor edoxaban can be an alternative to warfarin in patients with venous thromboembolism is unclear. MethodsIn a randomized, double-blind, noninferiority study, we randomly assigned patients with acute venous thromboembolism, who had initially received heparin, to receive edoxaban at a dose of 60 mg once daily, or 30 mg once daily (e.g., in the case of patients with creatinine clearance of 30 to 50 ml per minute or a body weight below 60 kg), or to receive warfarin. AIM. Muscular fatigue is a complex phenomenon affected by muscle fiber type and several metabolic and ionic changes within myocytes. Mitochondria are the main determinants of muscle oxidative capacity which is also one determinant of muscle fatigability. By measuring the concentrations of intracellular stores of high-energy phosphates it is possible to estimate the energy production efficiency and metabolic recovery of the muscle. Background: Circadian rhythms regulate key biological processes influencing metabolic pathways. Disregulation is associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Circadian rhythms are generated by a transcriptional autoregulatory feedback loop involving core clock genes. Background: The aim of this study was to describe data on epidemiology, ventilatory management, and outcome of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in immunocompromised patients. Methods: We performed a post hoc analysis on the cohort of immunocompromised patients enrolled in the Large Observational Study to Understand the Global Impact of Severe Acute Respiratory Failure (LUNG SAFE) study. The LUNG SAFE study was an international, prospective study including hypoxemic patients in 459 ICUs from 50 countries across 5 continents. Rituximab ® provides high response rates and effective disease palliation in patients with splenic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL). We conducted a phase II trial in patients with SMZL who were either untreated or were splenectomized but had shown disease progression within 1 year after splenectomy. Treatment consisted of six courses of Rituximab with cyclophosphamide, vincristine, non-pegylated liposomal doxorubicin and prednisone (R-COMP). Fifty-one patients were eligible for the analysis. The overall response rate was 84%. The 6-year progression-free survival and overall survival were 54% and 72%, respectively.
