A virtual laboratory designed for teaching diffractive lenses

[EN] We present a virtual laboratory generated in Matlab GuiQc (Graphical User Interface) for its use in Optics courses as an informatic tool for teaching the focusing properties of a diffractive lens. This Gui allows the students to learn easily and rapidly about the influence on the focal volume of the lens construction parameters. As an example in this work we analyze fractal diffractive lenses because we found that fractal geometry is a highly motivating topic for students since it is related to a wide range of scientific and technological phenomena.

International audience; The aim of the GBAR (Gravitational Behavior of Antimatter at Rest) experiment is to measure the free fall acceleration of an antihydrogen atom, in the terrestrial gravitational field at CERN and therefore test the Weak Equivalence Principle with antimatter. The aim is to measure the local gravity with a 1% uncertainty which can be reduced to few parts of 10-3.

A partire dalla definizione di sfruttamento e dalla problematizzazione dell'idea di libertà contrattuale e di consenso, il contributo analizza alcuni casi di grave sfruttamento lavorativo e di tratta ai danni delle donne migranti nell'ambito del settore domestico e di quello agricolo. I dati e le interviste qualitative raccolte sul campo confermano quindi le premesse teoriche (e normative) che avevano ricostruito la vulnerabilità in termini di mancanza di alternative percorribili e la tratta come abuso della posizione di vulnerabilità così definita.

Fucose-binding lectins (FBL) are present in tissues and fluids from invertebrates and vertebrates. The lectin repertoires in teleost fish are highly diversified and recently has been described the structure of the fucose-binding agglutinin that revealed a novel lectin fold (the “F-type” eel (Anguilla anguilla) fold), which shared a unique fucose-binding sequence motif contained both in carbohydrate-binding proteins and unrelated proteins. In Candida parapsilosis the ATC1 Gene Encodes for an Acid Trehalase Involved in Trehalose Hydrolysis, Stress Resistance and Virulence

An ORF named CPAR2-208980 on contig 005809 was identified by screening a Candida parapsilosis genome data base. Its 67% identity with the acid trehalase sequence from C. albicans (ATC1) led us to designate it CpATC1. Homozygous mutants that lack acid trehalase activity were constructed by gene disruption at the two CpATC1 chromosomal alleles. Phenotypic characterization showed that atc1Δ null cells were unable to grow on exogenous trehalose as carbon source, and also displayed higher resistance to environmental challenges, such as saline exposure (1.2 M NaCl), heat shock (42°C) and both mild and severe oxidative stress (5 and 50 mM H2O2).
