In recent decades, Mediterranean landscapes have been affected by human-induced drivers, such as land use and climate change. Forest ecosystems and landscapes have been particularly affected in mountainous regions due to limited management and stewardship, especially in remote areas. Wittgenstein's theories offer the starting point for looking at the socio-political implications of the language spoken by the institutions in the various historical phases: the communication system with which they relate to the outside world is functional in conveying the sense and scope of their action, building a precise relationship with public opinion. Starting from this assumption, the contribution takes into consideration some aspects of the recent practice of the Constitutional Court, with particular regard to press releases, and proposes an interpretation of the communication breakthrough pursued in recent years, relating it to the exercise of the function of warranty.

Tässä työssä tutkin oppikirjaa, joka on käytössä yläkoulussa, mutta ei ole alun perin laadittu peruskoulua varten. Kirjaa käytetään yläkoulussa alkavan englannin opetuksessa. Käytännössä kaikki oppilaat näissä ryhmissä ovat maahanmuuttajataustaisia. Työssäni analysoin oppikirjan kirjallisia harjoituksia ja teoreettisena pohjana analyysilleni on tekstitaitojen (literacy) näkeminen sosiokognitiivisena prosessina, jossa korostuvat sekä kontekstin että merkityksellisen kommunikaation tärkeys. Texts on labels are important because they form the main component of a museum’s communication model. The aim of this paper is to present and analyze how museums use texts to stimulate active involvement of their visitors. Their conclusions, based on analyses of museum texts in historical and art exhibitions, are as follows: museums use catchy titles to draw visitors’ attention; museums use active voice and emotive words to build more personal comment; museums use quotations to build connection between people and objects or history; museums place objects in cultural context. This article is about language used in menus. The recently changing approach to cooking and eating is also reflected in language that describes food. Restaurant menus are a clear example of this. It is because eating, i. e. experiencing the taste of dishes, does not only take using our tongue, but it also involves using language. Some restaurant owners are aware of the relationship between taste and word, which is reflected in the way some dishes are described in menu cards offered to customers. The purpose of the article is to analyse menus of selected restaurants and to show some linguistic tricks used by restaurant owners to encourage customers to eat in their restaurants.

The study, conducted in years 1998-2002, was aimed to define the optimal way of land reclamation and development o f the area of the opencast limestone mine by low-cost methods of proved efficiency. Four experimental plots, differ in respect of the soil fertilization method, were assigned within the area of the Silesian Lime Industry Works in Tarnów Opolski. Results o f physical and chemical analyses revealed that the use o f sewage sludge was not dangerous for soil properties and plants. Its uniform application on the whole land surface was more favorable than the point application by the hole treatment.

Artikkelissa tarkastellaan lukion opetussuunnitelman perusteissa 2003 sekä syksyllä 2012 annetuissa ylioppilaskokeen äidinkielen määräyksissä esiintyviä kirjoittamisen diskursseja. Opetusta ohjaavien dokumenttien analyysivälineenä on Ivaničin (2004) malli kirjoittamisen diskursseista: kirjoittamisessa voi olla kyse taidosta, luovuudesta tai prosessista, se voi olla tekstilajien tuottamista (genrediskurssi), sosiaalisten käytänteiden noudattamista tai sosiopoliittista toimintaa.
