Towards a deep-learning-based methodology for supporting satire detection

This paper describes an approach for supporting automatic satire detection through effective deep learning (DL) architecture that has been shown to be useful for addressing sarcasm/irony detection problems. We both trained and tested the system exploiting articles derived from two important satiric blogs, Lercio and IlFattoQuotidiano, and significant Italian newspapers.

The Burrows-Wheeler Transform is a string transformation that plays a fundamental role for the design of self-indexing compressed data structures. Over the years, researchers have successfully extended this transformation outside the domains of strings. However, efforts to find non-trivial alternatives of the original, now 25 years old, Burrows-Wheeler string transformation have met limited success. Aligning two representations of the same domain with different expressiveness is a crucial topic in nowadays semantic web and big data research. OWL ontologies and Entity Relation Diagrams are the most widespread representations whose alignment allows for semantic data access via ontology interface, and ontology storing techniques. Abelian antipowers in infinite words

Abstract An abelian antipower of order k (or simply an abelian k-antipower) is a concatenation of k consecutive words of the same length having pairwise distinct Parikh vectors. This definition generalizes to the abelian setting the notion of a k-antipower, as introduced in Fici et al. (2018) [7] , that is a concatenation of k pairwise distinct words of the same length. We aim to study whether a word contains abelian k-antipowers for arbitrarily large k. S. Holub proved that all paperfolding words contain abelian powers of every order (Holub, 2013 [8] ). We show that they also contain abelian antipowers of every order.

A syntactic analysis of the subject clitic a in the Friulian variety of Campone

This article presents a syntactic analysis of the third person subject clitic a in Camponese, a heretofore unstudied Friulian variety. Following Poletto's (2000) map of subject clitics, we argue that it bears [+third person] features, and is, in fact, the spell-out of the functional head Subj°, located in the highest projection of TP (following Rizzi & Shlonsky 2007). This paper proposes a new edition with commentary of the poem “Be·m plagr’ueymais qu’ab vos, dona, ·m valgues” by Guillem Peire de Cazals and represents a first critical and hermeneutical reassessment of the poetry of the troubadour from Cahors, that has long been neglected. The text presents the classical structure of a love-story (springtime exordium, singing brought on by love, the theme of improvement, courting with no hope of a reward, a request for mercé) and invites the fin aman to be patient.
