The factory of letters

2009

Trieste, the city which in a melancholy way, leaning his elbows upon the threshold of the window, looks at the sea, is the seat of the Tassinari/Vetta Studio, where the work completes a coherent cycle made of meticulous devotion to the project, of continuous research and experimentation, quite distant from the transitory trends, but rather firmly anchored to the national and international, graphic and typogra…

2021

Eclecticism is a complex creative trend born as a consequence of both postmodernism and the heterodox treatment of cultural identity borders. This aesthetic path emerges as a compositional model of great communicative power in contemporary creation in the last two decades. Our essay addresses the Symphony V "American" (2003) by Leonardo Balada (1933) as a compositional paradigm. Through this article we demonstrate the importance of including popular sounds and re-signifying materials in the creative conception. A valid model of communication ahead of the challenges of globalization and mass media processes is therefore established hereby.

2009

Recent exhibitions produced by the Foundation La Luz de las Imágenes in Valencian dioceses has allowed for numerous works of art to be seen, admired and studied under optimal conditions. In this context we offer an approach to the workshop of the Requena family, painters active in the Kingdom of Valencia between approximately 1531 and 1605. These artists, in their uneven production, owed much to Paolo da San Leocadio, the Hernandos and particularly, Joan de Joanes.

After having rapidly reconstructed the reading of Lucan between the 18th and 19th centuries, the contribution focuses its attention on the presence of Pharsalia in Leopardi’s production. The article tries to reconstruct from which moment Leopardi shows a direct knowledge of the epic poem and focuses on crit…
