CP violation through particle mixing and theH-Alineshape

We consider the possibility of looking for CP-mixing effects in two-Higgs doublet models (and particularly in the MSSM) by studying the lineshape of the CP-even (H) and CP-odd (A) neutral scalars. In most cases H and A come quite degenerate in mass, and their s-channel production would lead to nearly overlapping resonances. CP-violating effects may connect these two Higgs bosons, giving origin to one-loop particle mixing, which, due to their mass proximity, can be resonantly enhanced. The corresponding transition amplitude contains then CP-even and CP-odd components; besides the signal of intereference between both amplitudes, leading to a CP-odd asymmetry, we propose to look for the mixing…

Nuclear structure of lowestTh229states and time-dependent fundamental constants

The electromagnetic transition between the almost degenerate $5/{2}^{+}$ and $3/{2}^{+}$ states in $^{229}\mathrm{Th}$ is deemed to be very sensitive to potential changes in the fine structure constant $\ensuremath{\alpha}$. State of the art Hartree-Fock and Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculations are performed to compute the difference in Coulomb energies of the two states that determines the sensitivity of the transition frequency \ensuremath{\nu} on variations in $\ensuremath{\alpha}$. The kinetic energies are also calculated that reflect a possible variation in the nucleon or quark masses. Experimental evidence for chirality in the odd-A 105Rh

2004

Abstract High-spin states in 105 Rh were populated by the 96 Zr( 13 C, p3n) reaction at beam energies of 51 and 58 MeV, and studied using the EUROBALL IV γ -ray spectrometer and the DIAMANT charged particle array. A pair of nearly degenerate Δ I = 1 three-quasiparticle bands with the same spins and parity have been observed. Comparison of the experimental results with tilted axis cranking calculations confirms the chiral character of the two bands, while arguments based on the excitation of particles within the π g 9 / 2 ν ( h 11 / 2 ) 2 configuration of the yrast band and comparison with the previously observed γ band exclude the other possible interpretations. Squeezed Light Generation via Spatial Symmetry Breaking

The spontaneous spatial symmetry breaking occurring in the transverse section of the light beam emitted by a degenerate optical parametric oscillator is shown to give rise to perfectly squeezed light. Such phenomenon occurs at any operating conditions, unlike conventional squeezing.

Analogue of oscillation theorem for nonadiabatic diatomic states: application to the A 1Σ+ and b 3Π states of KCs

Relative intensity measurements in the high resolution A (1)Sigma(+) approximately b (3)Pi--X (1)Sigma(+) laser induced fluorescence spectra of the KCs molecule highlighted a breakdown of the conventional one-dimensional oscillation theorem (L. Determination of the $\theta_{23}$ octant in LBNO

2014

According to the recent results of the neutrino oscillation experiment MINOS, the neutrino mixing angle $\theta_{23}$ may not be maximal ($45^{\circ}$). Two nearly degenerate solutions are possible, one in the lower octant (LO) where $\theta_{23}45^{\circ}$. Long baseline experiments measuring the $\nu_{\mu}\rightarrow\nu_{e}$ are capable of resolving this degeneracy. In this work we study the potential of the planned European LBNO experiment to distinguish between the LO and HO solutions.

Leptogenesis with small violation of B-L

2012

We analyze leptogenesis in the context of seesaw models with almost conserved lepton number, focusing on the L-conserving contribution to the flavoured CP asymmetries. We find that, contrary to previous claims, successful leptogenesis is feasible for masses of the lightest heavy neutrino as low as M1 ~ 10^6 GeV, without resorting to the resonant enhancement of the CP asymmetry for strongly degenerate heavy neutrinos. This lower limit renders thermal leptogenesis compatible with the gravitino bound in supersymmetric scenarios.

Some physical appearances of vector coherent states and coherent states related to degenerate Hamiltonians

In the spirit of some earlier work on the construction of vector coherent states over matrix domains, we compute here such states associated to some physical Hamiltonians. In particular, we construct vector coherent states of the Gazeau-Klauder type. As a related problem, we also suggest a way to handle degeneracies in the Hamiltonian for building coherent states. Specific physical Hamiltonians studied include a single photon mode interacting with a pair of fermions, a Hamiltonian involving a single boson and a single fermion, a charged particle in a three dimensional harmonic force field and the case of a two-dimensional electron placed in a constant magnetic field, orthogonal to the plane…

The SVZ plasmon

The sum rule technique of Shifman, Vainshtein and Zakharov is applied to a non-relativistic many-body system, the homogeneous, degenerate electron gas. The operator product expansion for the nonrelativistic correlation function is derived and shown to be equivalent in lowest order to a moment expansion. The nonperturbative terms in this expansion characterize the interacting ground state (“vacuum”) of the system. For the electron gas they can be related to the correlation energy which is very well known.
