Thermal solitons along wires with flux-limited lateral exchange

We obtain some exact solutions in the context of solitons, for heat conduction with inertia along a cylinder whose heat exchange with the environment is a non-linear function of the difference of temperatures of the cylinder and the environment, due to a flux-limiter behavior of the exchange. We study the consequences of heat transfer and information transfer along the wire, and we compare the situation with analogous solitons found in nonlinear lateral radiative exchange studied in some previous papers. We also find further exact solutions in terms of Weierstrass elliptic functions for the sake of completeness.

Analysis of Torque Developed in Axial Flux, Single-Phase Brushless DC Motor With Salient-Pole Stator

An analysis of the torque developed by a single-phase disc brushless permanent magnet motor with salient-pole stator is presented. The machine represents a new family of brushless disc motors with the starting torque issue appearing to be most challenging. To produce a starting torque, the permanent magnets on one of the rotor discs are distributed nonuniformly. However, this significantly distorts a shape of the cogging torque versus rotational angle characteristic which, in turn, affects a waveform of the overall torque. High Wage Workers Match with High Wage Firms: Clear Evidence of the Effects of Limited Mobility Bias

Positive assortative matching implies that high productivity workers and firms match together. However, there is almost no evidence of a positive correlation between the worker and firm contributions in two-way fixed-effects wage equations. This could be the result of a bias caused by standard estimation error. Using German social security records we show that the effect of this bias is substantial in samples with limited inter-firm movement. The correlation between worker and firm contributions to wage equations is unambiguously positive.

Al fine di valutare le condizioni limite per la stabilità di un pendio in frana, sono state svolte delle analisi di stabilità all’equilibrio limite 2D e 3D in un’area ubicata nel bacino del fiume Imera Settentrionale (Sicilia). Tali analisi hanno permesso di ricostruire un modello geologico e geotecnico ottimale, di individuare il livello piezometrico che ha determinato le condizioni di instabilità e di definire i parametri operativi di resistenza a taglio dei terreni.
