Masonry infills panels placed among framed structures meshes have a relevant influence in presence seismic actions in terms of strength stiffness and global displacement capacity. In the case of RC structures, the modifications of internal forces due to infill-frame interaction may be not compatible with surrounding frame members strength especially considering additional shear forces arising at the ends of beams and columns in contact with the panel under lateral actions. In this paper, by adopting a systemic framework, we argue that place's adaptive connotation be considered as a mere result of endogenous processes but as a viable system that will remain viable if it can continue to answer the needs of its numerous heterogeneous internal and external socio-economic agents. La Strategia Nazionale Aree Interne (SNAI) è entrata in una nuova fase, in cui si prefigura la trasformazione da policy sperimentale a politica strutturale e, insieme ad altre strategie anche preesistenti concorre non senza criticità a ridefinire le traiettorie di sviluppo di queste parti del Paese. Gli sviluppi di quanto sta avvenendo sui Sicani in Sicilia sono indicativi delle interazioni tra SNAI ed altre strategie di settore, come la Strategia di Sviluppo Rurale, e indicano alcuni approcci di integrazione e di armonizzazione delle politiche attivate e delle azioni già in corso.

Redescription of Tipula octomaculata Savchenko, with notes on related Holarctic species (Diptera, Tipulidae)

Tipula (Pterelachisus) octomaculata Savchenko, 1964 (Diptera, Tipulidae) has hitherto been known only from the type locality in north-western Russia, and no material besides the holotype male has been available for study. In this article we report T. octomaculata for the first time from Finland, redescribe the species and compare its morphological characters with those of related Nearctic species (T. trivittata Say, T. angulata Loew, T. entomophthorae Alexander). The Finnish finding locality in Ks: Taivalkoski, North boreal ecoregion, is briefly discussed.

An Experimental Testbed and Methodology for Characterizing IEEE 802.11 Network Cards

It has been observed that IEEE 802.11 commercial cards produced by different vendors show a different behavior in terms of perceived throughput or access delay. Performance differences are evident both when the cards contend alone to the channel, and when heterogeneous cards contend together. Since the performance misalignment does not disappear by averaging the environmental factors (such as propagation conditions, laptop models, traffic generators, etc), it is evident that the well known throughput-fairness property of the DCF protocol is not guaranteed in actual networks.
