RSS-eye: Human-assisted Indoor Localization without Radio Maps

The pervasive diffusion of smartphones is boosting indoor positioning solutions and location-based services. We propose a novel methodology to perform indoor positioning of mobile users by the estimation of angles of arrival from access points whose locations are known. Angles of arrival are estimated by correlating WiFi RSSI measurements with data coming from a digital compass, which is provided by most current handsets. Our system has minimal requirements in terms of infrastructure and mobile hardware. Towards an Understanding of the Polar Diels–Alder Reactions of Nitrosoalkenes with Enamines: A Theoretical Study

The polar Diels–Alder reactions of nitrosoalkenes with enamines have been studied using DFT methods at the B3LYP/6-31G* level of theory. These Diels–Alder reactions are characterized by a nucleophilic attack of the enamine at the conjugated position of the nitrosoalkene with concomitant ring-closure. The reactions present a total regioselectivity and a large endo selectivity. Hydatid disease is a parasitic disease considered endemic in many parts of the world such as South America, Middle East, Africa, Australia and the Mediterranean regions. Liver and lung hydatid disease accounts for 90% of all echinococcal cysts. Primary hydatid disease of subcutaneous sites is rare and the subcutaneous localization of a solitary hydatid cyst accounts for 1.6%. Differential occurrence of S100A7 in breast cancer tissues: A proteomic-based investigation

Purpose The present study reports for the first time a large-scale proteomic screening of the occurrence, subcellular localization and relative quantification of the S100A7 protein among a group of 100 patients, clinically grouped for the diagnosis of infiltrating ductal carcinoma (IDC). Abstract The matricellular protein osteopontin (OPN, Spp-1) is widely associated with cancer aggressiveness when produced by tumor cells, but its impact is uncertain when produced by leukocytes in the context of the tumor stroma. In a broad study using Spp1−/− mice along with gene silencing in tumor cells, we obtained evidence of distinct and common activities of OPN when produced by tumor or host cells in a spontaneously metastatic model of breast cancer. Characterization of aging-associated up-regulation of constitutive nuclear factor-kappa B binding activity.

Changes occur in gene expression during aging in vivo and in replicative senescence in vitro, suggesting that aging can affect gene regulation. We have recently observed age-related changes in ubiquitously expressed, oxidative stress-responsive nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappa B) pathway during aging. Here we report a significant age-related increase in nuclear NF-kappa B binding activity together with increased protein levels of p52 and p65 components in rat liver.
