Unsupervised Classification of Acoustic Echoes from Two Krill Species in the Southern Ocean (Ross Sea)

This work presents a computational methodology able to automatically classify the echoes of two krill species recorded in the Ross sea employing scientific echo-sounder at three different frequencies (38, 120 and 200 kHz). The goal of classifying the gregarious species represents a time-consuming task and is accomplished by using differences and/or thresholds estimated on the energy features of the insonified targets. Conversely, our methodology takes into account energy, morphological and depth features of echo data, acquired at different frequencies. Modified F-transform Based on B-splines

The aim of this paper is to improve the F-transform technique based on B-splines. A modification of the F-transform of higher degree with respect to fuzzy partitions based on B-splines is done to extend the good approximation properties from the interval where the Ruspini condition is fulfilled to the whole interval under consideration. The effect of the proposed modification is characterized theoretically and illustrated numerically.

Abstract Logical consensus is an approach to distributed decision making which is based on the availability of a network of agents with incomplete system knowledge. Abstract Single point incremental forming (SPIF) is a promising forming process, yet not entirely accepted and implemented on industrial scale, due to several reasons, presented in the paper. The approach presented here develops an evaluation method for the degree of its industrial implementation. Several factors which will favor the industrial implementation of ASPIF are identified and their weights are hierarchized by means of AHP. To assess the robustness of the AHP, a sensitivity analysis was also presented. Furthermore, a fuzzy inference system was built, having as output the degree of industrial implementation of SPIF.

Abstract This paper represents the second part of the work described in the paper with the title “Decision-making tool for moving from 3-axes to 5-axes CNC machine-tool”. The problem of using either 3 axes CNC machine-tools or 5 axes CNC machine tools was presented in the first part, together with a fuzzy logic based decision support tool. This time, an AHP approach is used in order to evaluate the decision of moving to a manufacturing process based upon 5 axes machine tools. Three variants were taken into consideration and analysed. The consistency of the proposed approach was evaluated and a sensitivity analysis was also introduced.
