The chemical composition of extremely metal-poor and carbon-rich star HD 112869
2005
The preliminary results of abundance analysis are presented for extremely metal-poor carbon star HD 112869 = TT CVn = CGCS 3319. The radial velocity was found to be −137.7 km s −1 . Our LTE abundance analysis supports an extremely low metallicity for TT CVn, [Fe/H] = −3.2, and a significant overabundance of carbon and neutron-capture elements. The 12 C/ 13 C ratio in the atmosphere of HD 112869 is high.
Lithium in metal-poor red giants
2009
AbstractThe lithium abundance was calculated for five metal-poor red giant stars from Li i doublet at 6707 Å by fitting the observed high-resolution spectra with synthetic spectra. The lithium abundance was found to be low in all stars, logϵ(Li) ≤ 1.8, confirming lithium depletion on the red giant and asymptotic giant branch.
¿Por qué la literatura?
2021
In poetry, as well as in a good part of prose works, the rhythm of words is the music that governs reason and emotion. Literature occupies an important place in my creation. In this article I describe the different procedures in which I configure its presence in my music and the main themes in four of my works: Envoi, Como el viento, Maya and Transmutación.
Polysaccharide remains in Maya mural paintings: is it an evidence of the use of plant gums as binding medium of pigments and additive in the mortar?
2020
A number of monosaccharides characteristic of plant gums were found in paint layers and preparation layers of samples of Maya mural paintings of 10 archaeological sites located in Campeche and Yucatan regions. This finding opens the question about the deliberate use of these organic polymers as additives for improving workability and mechanical properties in the preparation layer mortar and conferring cohesion to the pigments in the paint layer. The study performed by GC-MS has confirmed the presence, in significant amounts, of a series of monosaccharides, being glucose and mannose between the most abundantly found. Nevertheless, the low amount present in most of the samples hindered the qu…
A Survey of Current Measurement Methods for eGovernment User-Satisfaction
2011
A survey on eGovernment user-satisfaction measurement methods was conducted to enable a comparison among them and to facilitate a discussion on good practices. The collected information is related to the methodology properties, tools, followed practices, implementation stage and challenges. The main findings are that the surveyed methods rarely refer to any established relevant standards, they are not regularly updated, and most of them do not have an open process for maintenance. We also note that software vendors are mostly not included in the intended group of users of the measurement results. A revision of methods and their maintenance processes can increase their accountability and ena…
Towards farm-level health management of offshore wind farms for maintenance improvements
2015
This paper studies a conceptual architecture for health management of offshore wind farms. To this aim, various necessary enablers of a health management sys- tem are presented to improve reliability and availability while optimizing maintenance costs. The main focus lies on improving existing condition monitoring systems based on concepts of condition-based maintenance and relia- bility centered maintenance. A brief review of the rel- evant state-of-the-art is presented and gaps to be filled towards realization of such health management system are discussed.
Seminars on Software Maintenance and Evolution: An Empirical Study of the Background Factors Affecting Student Success
2013
Software maintenance and evolution (SME) is an important but challenging topic area for university-level computer science education. Seminars can be used to provide students with versatile and up-to-date knowledge on scien- tifically relevant issues. We organized three systematic university-level seminars on SME. In these seminars 127 groups have each been assigned the task of analyzing one scientific SME article. The main results concern background factors re- lating to the students, groups and articles as these affect student success in the seminars. This paper presents a strict statis- tical analysis and a discussion of these factors. Fourteen hypotheses were set and tested regarding the…

In Silico Insights into the SARS CoV-2 Main Protease Suggest NADH Endogenous Defences in the Control of the Pandemic Coronavirus Infection
2020
COVID-19 is a pandemic health emergency faced by the entire world. The clinical treatment of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) CoV-2 is currently based on the experimental administration of HIV antiviral drugs, such as lopinavir, ritonavir, and remdesivir (a nucleotide analogue used for Ebola infection). This work proposes a repurposing process using a database containing approximately 8000 known drugs in synergy structure- and ligand-based studies by means of the molecular docking and descriptor-based protocol. The proposed in silico findings identified new potential SARS CoV-2 main protease (MPRO) inhibitors that fit in the catalytic binding site of SARS CoV-2 MPRO. Several sel…
