Leveraging Sport Sponsorship with Digital Marketing Communication : A Conceptual Model
2023
Despite the demonstrated importance of social media platforms in leveraging the effects of sport sponsorship, surprisingly few studies have investigated this issue. The current study aims to broaden the knowledge of how major corporations could apply their marketing strategies related to sport sponsorship and utilise social media and digital channels for leveraging activities to meet their corporate goals through sponsorship-related digital marketing and public relations (PR) communication. This conceptual paper will contribute to the understanding of how sport sponsorship could be leveraged in social media and discuss key factors for creating a desirable leveraging effect. The main outcome…
Students' usage patterns of video recorded lectures in an undergraduate mathematics course
2018
International audience; It is customary for some universities to offer recordings of live lectures to students. Whether this improves learning and academic performance is debated in the literature. As with most technology, correct usage can lead to increased academic performance, but there are also usage patterns that can be considered counter productive, especially for learning mathematics. In order to investigate patterns in students' usage of such online recorded live lectures, we analyze log files from a server holding the recordings of an undergraduate mathematics course. This poster presents results from the statistical analysis and discusses some of the usage patterns found in light …
Future Trends in Social Media and Public Relations
2022
Public relations (PR) focuses on storytelling by creating newsworthy content that will be communicated to target audiences. However, because social media has empowered individual consumers to an unprecedented level, we are no longer passive consumers of stories and some consumers have even reached influencer status where their opinions carry great authority. In the future, PR stories will shape global culture, but the Covid-19 pandemic has also alerted us to the damage caused by deliberate misinformation (e.g. the anti-vaccination movement). The digital environment — especially where PR now operates — is changing rapidly; artificial intelligence and machine learning are assisting corporatio…
Dialogue instead of a monologue : advertisers' expectations towards the media
2011
Stakeholders’ expectations can define the future of the media. Due to advertising revenues, producing audiences desirable for advertisers has been considered as a central function of media. Furthermore, it has been claimed that mass media today would not exist without advertisers. If media organizations want to survive, they will have to acknowledge the expectations that their stakeholders such as advertisers have towards them in the new media environment. Even though meeting stakeholders’ expectations can be crucial for an organization’s future in terms of legitimacy and reputation, expectations have been an understudied topic in organizational communication. The aim of this research was t…
Performing Disgust : Affective Intersections of Misogyny, Racism, and Homophobia in Radical-Right Online Discussion
2023
Social media is an increasingly important tool for the dissemination of misogynistic, xenophobic, and nationalist radical-right messages. As injurious modes of communication spread on the internet and trickle into societal discussions, polarizing communication also becomes normalized in traditional media and everyday discussions. In this chapter, we trace how disgust becomes politicized in radical-right populist rhetoric online. The radical right movement’s affective discourse is used to arouse strong emotions in the followers. We are interested in how repulsion toward women, typical of texts published in many online environments, affectively intersects with repulsion towards (other) gender…

Tietojen kalastelu sosiaalisen median palveluissa
2014
Huusko, Tuija Tietojen kalastelu sosiaalisen median palveluissa Jyväskylä: Jyväskylän yliopisto, 2014, 33 s. Tietojärjestelmätiede, kandidaatintutkielma Ohjaaja: Veijalainen, Jari Tämän kandidaatintutkielman tarkoituksena on tutkia tietojen kalastelun keinoja sosiaalisen median palveluissa sekä menetelmiä, joilla voidaan suojautua tietojen kalastelulta. Sosiaalisen median hyödyntäminen on suu…
Elektroninen suosittelumarkkinointi blogeissa : viestijän ja viestin sisällön vaikutukset eWOM-viestinnän uskottavuuteen ja kuluttajakäyttäytymiseen
2015
Blogien lukeminen ja sen myötä markkinointi blogeissa on lisääntynyt viime vuosina merkittävästi. Blogit tarjoavat mahdollisuuden jakaa reaaliajassa multimediasisältöjä tuhansille blogin aiheesta kiinnostuneille lukijoille. Bloggaajista on tullut tunnettuja henkilöitä, joiden mielipiteitä arvostetaan ja seurataan. eWOM-viestintä koetaan myös massamainontaa uskottavammaksi. Tämän tutkielman päätavoitteena oli tutustua paremmin blogeihin mark-kinointiviestinnän alustana. Tutkimuksen teoriaosuudessa pääpaino on elektronisessa word-of-mouth –viestinnän markkinointikäytössä ja uskottavuudessa. Lisäksi teoriaosuutta täydentävät markkinoinnin ja verkkoarvioiden kirjallisuus. Blogien suosittelupost…
Violent Conflicts and the New Mediatization: The Impact of Social Media on the European Parliamentary Agenda Regarding the Syrian War
2018
As key institutions in Western democracies, parliaments have gained importance regarding foreign affairs issues in recent years. Their increasing role as moral tribunes and discussion forums on conflict prevention and resolution have led to the parliamentarization of international affairs. The examination of the parliamentary agenda and the actors who shape it constitutes a fundamental part of agenda-setting studies as applied to the media and political systems. Among these actors, mass media must be highlighted, taking into account the complex process of information gathering for members of Parliament, particularly in cases related to international violent conflicts. Moreover, in the speci…
Genetic Factors as Promising Biomarkers of Sporadic Ascending Aortic Aneurysm
2014
Thoracic aorta shows various changes with advancing age and a progressive deterioration in structure and function. As a result, vascular remodeling (VR) and medial degeneration (MD) occur. VR and MD are typical entities of sporadic thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA), actually considered a common and serious health risk and a pathology by unclear mechanisms. Increased activity of the coagulation system, inflammation, activation of extracellular matrix remodeling and endothelial dysfunction pathways have been recently evidenced to have a key role in its onset. Thus, polymorphisms of the coagulation system [fibrinogen (rs1800790); Factor II ( rs1799963); Factor V (rs6025); Factor VII (rs121964926)…
