KKO 2022:9 Voiko maalittaminen olla vainoamista?
2022
2014
Sosiaalinen media on muuttanut tapojamme työskennellä, kommunikoida, tuottaa ja jakaa tietoa. Sosiaalinen media on tullut viime vuosien aikana perinteisten verkko-oppimisympäristöjen rinnalle, sillä sosiaalisen median luonteeseen kuuluu yhteisöissä toimiminen sekä tiedon jakaminen ja rakentaminen. Tämä kirjallisuuskatsauksena toteutettu tutkielma selvittää miten sosiaalinen media poikkeaa perinteisistä verkko-oppimisympäristöistä ja kuinka sosiaalista mediaa voidaan hyödyntää opetuksessa. Tutkimustuloksena todetaan, että sosiaalisen median palvelut mahdollistavat tiedon, tuotosten ja tehtävien helpomman jakamisen opiskelijoiden kesken sekä mahdollistavat yhdessä työskentelemisen paremmin ku…
Cultural heritage in social media : Museum of Photography
2012
The research Cultural Heritage in Social Media: Museum of Photography deals with a new form of displaying and preserving cultural heritage in the 21st century by using social media tools. Building a political image on Instagram: A study of the personal profile of Santiago Abascal (Vox) in 2018
2020
Due to Instagram’s growing popularity in Spain, politicians have also begun to turn to this social network increasingly more. Accordingly, this paper analyses the visual and textual discourse of 259 posts published throughout 2018 on the personal Instagram profile of Santiago Abascal, the leader of the party Vox. Insofar as he is the Spanish politician with the highest number of followers on Instagram, the aim here is to analyse how he uses this social network in order to identify possible strategies that justify his growing number of followers. In the analysis, special attention was paid to aspects that might have contributed to the (self)presentation of Abascal and the promotion of his pa…
Characterization of the "viable but nonculturable" (VBNC) state in the wine spoilage yeast Brettanomyces.
2012
Although the viable but not culturable (VBNC) state has been studied in detail in bacteria, it has been suggested that maintenance of viability with loss of culturability also exists in eukaryotic cells, such as in the wine spoilage yeast Brettanomyces. To provide conclusive evidence for the existence of a VBNC state in this yeast, we investigated its capacity to become viable and nonculturable after sulfite stress, and its ability to recover culturability after stressor removal. Sulfite addition induced loss of culturability but maintenance of viability. Increasing the medium pH to decrease the concentration of toxic SO(2) allowed yeast cells to become culturable again, thus demonstrating …
Citizen Response in Crisis : Individual and Collective Efforts to Enchance Community Resilience
2014
This paper reports on the process and findings of an extensive research project with the aim of investigating present initiatives and approaches within the area of community resilience and citizen involvement. The paper specifically addresses which emerging sociotechnical approaches can be discerned within these initiatives. The discussion is structured within three categories of potential voluntary engagement; organized volunteers, semiorganized individuals, and “nonorganized” individuals. The empirical material assembled in the research project is contrasted with contemporary international research literature regarding sociotechnical means for enhancing community resilience. Swedish appro…

Working the fields of big data : Using big-data-augmented online ethnography to study candidate–candidate interaction at election time
2017
The paper proposes big-data-augmented ethnography as a novel mixed-methods approach to studying political discussions in a hybrid media system. Using such empirical setup, the authors examined candidate–candidate online interaction during election campaigning. Candidate–candidate interaction crossing party boundaries is scarce and occurs in the form of negative campaigning via social media, with the shaming of rival candidates and engaging in battles with them. The authors posit that ethnographic observations can be used to contextualize the computational analysis of large data sets, while computational analysis can be applied to validate and generalize the findings made through ethnography…
Examining the Impact of eWOM-triggered Customer-to-Customer Interactions on Travelers’ Repurchase and Social Media Engagement
2021
Electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) communication on social media has revolutionized how travelers search for and share information and how they interact with one another digitally. This research examines the effects of eWOM-triggered customer-to-customer (C2C) interactions on travelers’ post-eWOM behaviors (i.e., repurchase and customer engagement) in a cross-cultural context. Drawing upon cognitive dissonance theory, a scenario-based experiment was conducted using a sample of 461 African tourists with recent intracontinental travel experience. Our findings suggest that a customer’s repurchase intention and engagement in social media C2C interactions are significantly influenced when their eWO…
